Cochin Thread!!!

Hey All,

Chicks are now 3 weeks. i got 3 frizzles out of 3 frizzle eggs. i think i have sexed them all, but would like some confirmation.

i think there are 2 girls and 2 roos, i am really hoping that i am wrong on the Self Blue barred, although it does look like a boy to me.

I introduced my two new mottled (6 & 7 months) to my new blue mottled pullet (8 months) today. Was had to get a photo of them together because Ivy (front) follows me to the point of tripping me up. They seem to be getting along well so far! Bluebell is looking a little sparse right now but has TONS of white tipped pinfeathers just waiting to fill her in nicely. Can't wait to see how her color changes.

Love them!

Hey all,
i have had a cochin bantam that has been broody for about a month, i finally got the girl some eggs to sit on, and 18 days in she has decided today to abandon them

it makes me sad, but i am glad she decided that her health was more important, as she had lost all colour in comb and wattles and was not looking good. It has been very hot over the last two days.
i wish i had an incubator or had been at home so i could put them under a lamp for the last 2-3 days

it is so disappointing, she was so stoic until today

Sorry about your eggs, that's pretty close to the end, but it does happen. If you can get an incubator for back up that would be a good plan for the future.
