Cochin Thread!!!

I raise Blue Mottled, Black Mottled and Splash Mottled and Gold Laced Bantam Cochins and I absolutely LOVE my Bantam Cochins. They are the SWEETEST birds! I breed toward the SOP and show quality.
If you are looking for very nice Gold Laced I would suggest Craig Hansen. You can find him on the Cochin Connection page on Facebook. He has a pair of GL on auction right now and also a couple of Silver Laced pairs. His birds win at the big shows! And his prices are very reasonable and he is a NICE man to work with.

Right at this moment I don't have any birds for sale but later this winter I will have some mottled and hopefully some gold laced for sale. You can find me on FaceBook on City Chicks at Reflections Farm page.

My 2 hatchery bantam cochins look nothing like your beauties. I love the little grumpy asiatic faces yours have. Going to stalk you on facebook.

@reflections Oh hey you're in OK as well. What part of OK if I may ask. Do you ever part with eggs or day olds?

Overrun With Chickens , I'm in Oklahoma City and yes I sell day olds. (did I say mine are all bantams? ) I'm planning to start another incubation in a few days. Chicks would be black mottled and blue mottled. this is a juvenile from my spring hatch. He just went first place for his junior owner at Cleveland County show even though he was pretty young for showing. (Oops, just realized it was his hatch mate that showed)

I would love to meet you, a Cochin person!! Stay in touch. :)

Overrun With chickens, those little hens of yours are nice birds. Just cross with a shorter back male should give you very pretty chicks. Actually, that little splash could come live here. :) and your blue has very nice lacing which isn't always easy to find.

Really? They are from Ideal hatchery. I just picked them out of a bin at Atwoods farm store that uses Ideal hatchery. They're kind of mean though! I just moved them into a new coop that I built and they seem to think that I'm a part of their pecking order now. Silly things. I do like the lacing on the blue girl, but her body is really long. I think the splash girl doesn't have good feather quality... I can't explain it, but if you see her up close her feathers have always looked a bit ratty from the time she started growing them in, unlike the blue girl.

I'm not really a 'cochin' (silkies have stolen my heart) person, as these are my first 2, but I do admire their beauty and wouldn't mind starting a small breeding flock of nice quality bantams. I am very new to them and have a lot to learn. I'm in hughes county about two and a half hours from the city. I will keep in touch and see about some day olds or eggs in the spring time if you have any available. I really enjoy raising them from day old and watching them feather out.

That is a gorgeous young cockerel. Congrats on the win!

Those are gorgeous, I got some mottled cochins through MPC, which uses Meyers, they aren't too bad looking at almost 4 months old. I love my little cochins.
Thanks, I actually won their eggs on one of the auction threads here on BYC. Absolutely adore them. I named them Mickey and Minnie, and Mickey is a big boy in a little boys body. I have some Blue Orpington and SL Roos that he pushes around. They are at least 7 times his size, its quite funny to see.

City Chick your birds are beautiful! I just love your blue mottled. I am following you on your FB page and will watch for any upcoming hatches. Thank you!
Oh, I am also on the Cochin Connection page and saw Craig's GL and SL bantam cochins, since I am new to the page, I am watching for now. Thanks Again.

My cockerels day may be limited. He has been aggressive off and on. Today he attacked my daughter jumping and scratching her legs because she was trying to pet the hens. He is young but this is not acceptable. It took a few minutes of me tapping him with a stick before he settled back down. I currently have 3 cockerels and 18 pullets in a 400 sq ft run.

Life is too short to feed and care for mean roosters, and it will only get worse. There are literally thousands of cocks and cockerels out there dying for a good home. Send him off one way or another and get a sweet male that is good with the hens AND your daughter.
