Cochin Thread!!!

I just had my FIRST 2 cochins hatch today in the morning and a Cochin/turken hatch with them!!

First blue baby cochin I think that this one is going to be a pullet

I have no idea what this baby is going to look like when it gets older!!XD mom of the turken is buff and the daddy is a standard blue cochin

Yes. Her comb and wattles are very dark, and 19 weeks is about that time. My australorp just laid at 15 amd a half. I was really surprised.


Oooh, thanks. My comets started at 17 weeks (a couple of months ago) but I didn't really expect it from a bantam, until I saw how dark her wattles are getting.

She may just beat my lavender orpingtons, which are 26 weeks old and still free-loading!

:highfive: Found a soft egg this evening while the chicks were out free ranging. It came from Katherine for sure, but I don't know when she dropped it. It was still soft and pliable. Saw her mate with it in his mouth lol. We'll see what she does tomorrow, but likely the next day, I should have my very first bantam egg. :weee
 
Congrats Duckchick!!! Several of my beginners have laid their first couple eggs soft or deformed. Though this australorp girl hasn't had that. She's so amazing she laid 5 days in a row her first week!!!
