Cochin Thread!!!

Stumpy started crowing! I do not have an accurate age for these three so I add a few weeks to the time I have had them. I am so happy to hear him even if he hasn't found his voice. Hopefully by the end of the week he will be loud and have a 3 note crow. My 2 EE males crow all day but are not the deep tone of the Cochins I have heard when I bought mine earlier this year.

I have a my Cochins in a coop and run beside my EE coop and run. So I hope he out crows them soon. The standard EE sounds good but his voice is high pitched and the bantam oh my he is loud!

This was one of my Turchins, or Cochkens however you want to say it. The only way I would make the cross again is if I just wanted a terminal meat bird. They grew surprisingly well, but didn't lay well at all, even worse than the Cochins they came from. The NN I used laid fairly good, but the cross not so much. They were special looking, though.

She looks like a good black pullet - even though its not the best picture - I like what I see - she seems to have good substance.  I hope you can save her if she is indeed egg bound.

The rooster is definitely a Splash - Not Self-Blue(Lavender).  Did he just come out of a molt?  Something just doesn't seem/look right with his feathers.  Casey is our resident Frizzle expert.  He just doesn't look frizzle to me.  And just as Casey noted on the Brown Red hen above that we were discussing, his comb/wattles/ear lobes seem all out of proportion.
the rooster looks like a silkie cochin

I love the deep crow of the LF cochin. My boy King Triton has just started and I love to here it. He doesn't crow very often ( not top roo yet), but when he does I know it's him. Actually I have several roosters ( silkie, leghorn,LF and bantam cochin) and I can tell each one by their crow. It's almost like hearing your child's voice.

This is my feller King Triton LOVE HIM
