A few pics of some babies that I hatched recently, six weeks old now. Father is a blue frizzled bantam cochin. Mother is either a cuckoo bantam cochin, or a white silkie. 3 blue, 3 black. Only 1 of the 6 has 5 toes, so I know it belonged to a silkie, but a few still have me guessing. All have black skin like silkies, most are getting little crowns, but not huge like a silkie. Half have a straight comb, half have walnut comb. (I guess all the walnut combs are silkie mother too)

Looks like I'm going to have to incubate more of the cuckoo girl's eggs (I wasn't sure which ones were hers when I originally set them)

One is a beautiful black frizzle, but don't have a recent picture of it.

So is there a name for a silkie/cochin cross?

Those all look like Silkie mixes to me. I think that the second one may be a cockerel too. I have heard "Silchen" tossed around when people talk about Silkie/Cochin mixes, but I don't know if there is an official name for the cross.

I think so too, just some got a little more of one breed or the other. After doing this, I also think its possible that one of my silkies is a possible cross too. So maybe hers are the ones that have more cochin features, like the straight comb.

And I agree on the male. I think I have another one too, not pictured. Their wattles are getting pink faster. But that's ok. I'm going to put the females under my frizzle and shoot for some sizzles.. I think...
