Coopa Cabana, not sure at all about a single dose, but wanted to share a website with you that helps figure out the blue/self-blue breeding: http://www.bluepoultry.com/Breeding_Chart.html
I think self-blue = lavender, which is completely different than the blue in the blue/black/splash varieties. HTH!

What ever they look like, I am sure they'll be cute lil puffballs. I have an RIR/Buff Orp mix. I took her to another cockerel mix who is 1/2 Australorp and 1/2 Buff Orp, just to see what comes out. I hatched just one egg, and this wild looking chick came out. So, you might get something wild and cool.
Sorry about the lousy pic. She is on the go 100% of the time. lolol
Don't feel bad, that's what all of my chicken pictures look like. I can take good pics of the rooster because he's so lazy, but the hens are more active!

I sure hope it doesn't turn out to be something too cool. Cause I gave her mommy to my neighbor. I'd hate to be an Indian Giver and ask back for that 1/2 RIR and 1/2 Buff Orp pullet to make more like this girl. This little girls daddy is a moose of a boy. he is a whoppin 11 lbs at 11 months old. He is 1/2 Mt Healthy Hatchery Australorp and 1/2 Buff Orp. lolol And I have a pair of neat Red colored 1/2 RIR and 1/2 Buff Orp borthers of hers. I was thinkin of taking them to this little girl. One of them has the nicest deep Red from front to back, no difference coloration. Like zero butt fluff on him, plus he is more built like an RIR. I rather go for the Orp look.
I am sure this type of breeding is in no books. lololol

Next spring, if she has chicks with ... uh, hm, guess we backed ourselves into a corner here. Well, if she has chicks, maybe you can get a few. See if you can find another Orpington x Something to be her baby-daddy.

I can always get her back. My neighbor hasn't paid me yet. $20 for three pure Buff Orp and the Orp / RIR mix. I am a nice guy to her. And she is happy to have access to some of my rejects.
I am happy to get the OKAY from the parent stock breeder of my pair of Buff CoChin to show them in our Gateway show here in Bloomington IN. I know it is right to ask before showing someone else's baby that they raised and sold ya. So, I asked. Will be my first show, and this guy is giving me some nice tips for conditioning. Can not wait.
I am way into it. My CoChins presently have a room in the basement. And their a bath away from going.
