Splash are not popular with me. Of course I like Columbians which not many others seem to favor so what I like doesn't matter. You are the one who feeds them so they only have to be popular with you.

Not so much to do with being popluar as it does with the fact they aren't a recognized variety. I've seen Splash Cochins with outstanding type, comparable to Blacks and Whites, but they can't go anywhere but BV or RV. Plus they are a product of breeding blues and when bred together continue to dilute to the point of not being splash anymore. you don't see many splash even in breeds that recognize that color "pattern." The most I see of splash anything are silkies.

I have a question I got 3 bantams at tractor supply I was told that they where Cochin's I have one that was black and yellow now the yellow on this little one is turning gray does this mean she is some time of blue Cochin I have pictures if it would help. I just lost my only blue hen So if she is blue it would be great but since I have never had a blue chick I don't know what they look like. Thanks for any help.

My fiancée and I tried feather-sexing my 3 Mille Fleur Cochin chicks when they hatched. We were both sure we had 1 boy and 2 girls, but we disagreed on which one was the boy!

They're older now, and it turns out we were both wrong - we DO have 1 boy and 2 girls, but the little cockerel is the ONE chick that we both agreed was a girl!

Anyways...I stuffed my incubators full of Cochin eggs last night!

All of the eggs are from my own birds...I have Columbian eggs from two separate breeding pens that went in, and some Blue Mottleds. Still waiting on eggs from the White hens!
