Thank you all....yes all of my hens do a "tap dance" my lil Blue Jeans doesn't lift her feet and stomp quite like my redstars do. When my first pullets did it, I thought they looked like lil paso fino horses legs just a going, but they aren't going anywhere LOL

Wow thank you Nadine!! I think he's something special, something drew me to him the moment I saw him as a 1 week old....and I've gotten more excited as he's gotten older...I can't wait til he starts filling out. AND he's a sweetheart, he always makes me smile.

I have more piccies of him if anyone wants to see more of Mr Rizz

Did you find a new 'boyfriend' for them? Wasn't it the Buff rooster who died?

Haven't seen you here in a while. Do you have any bantam cochins coming up for sale soon?

Didn't you get some Milles from Nancy Krohn? Did you hear she's selling her farm and liquidating her entire sheep and chicken flocks? So sad.....

Yes, I haven't been on here much, between work, kid's sports and getting everything around here finished up, seems like I don't have much computer time anymore. I have a ton of emails to catch up on (including yours! sorry

Yes, I did find a new "boyfriend" for the Buff Columbian girls, I ended up getting the roo that died's full brother. He has picked up right where his brother left off. He's not as gorgeous as his brother but he's still pretty nice. Now; here's the luck of it all, when you want a roo out of a great roo that you lost, what do you get??? All girls!! I have about 10 BC girls and no boys! They are beautiful little girls though!
As far as anything for sale; just mottled chicks right now but I have some cuties. I'll try to post pics sometime this weekend. I have some blues and splash in the incubator right now~
I gave Grace; the buff hen to my friend for a Buff Barred project but I did have 2 little chicks hatch last week from her, they are so cute!

I hadn't heard about Nancy, that's terrible. I can't imagine having to give everything up like that. These times are so hard right now, after a bad day, it's always my little flock that put's a smile on my face again. I can't even imagine not having them here anymore~

I like that hen. Is she LF or bantam. Still learning conformation but I do like her. Is she young?

She's bantam, not sure about her age though but she looks fairly young to me. I have 3 BC hens right now and a little flock of their babies right now

Hi, I just wanted to know if what I've read is true? Here in England the chicken breed that are called Pekins are called Bantam Cochins in the US. Is this true? If it is then I currently have 12 Creole Pekin/Bantam Cochin eggs in my incubator. It is my favorite color in chickens! I just hope they hatch!!

That is my understanding. I'm new to chickens though too, and have never heard of Creole color.........got to see pix of those as they grow!

In in simplest form, Crele is a Barred Gold/Red Duckwing. There are a couple of people in the states working on them. Here's one of the threads:

oooooooh....mottleds (that I'm liking better all the time), a bunch of BC girls, black and splash in the incubator and 2 babies from Grace........I just may have to make a road trip to Indiana later this summer!

Yeah, I first became familiar with Nancy through her sheep. I am new to chickens, but I've been a handspinner for many years and have lots of 'sheepy' friends. I was listening to my girls trilling this morning and thinking how much I LOVE having chickens. Even in town with only a couple, they have such personalities. I think of them as 'pets with bonuses.'

It was only today that I ran across a site that said that Pekins and Bantam Cochins were the same breed. The rooster on the thread looks a lot like what mine are suppose to look like. The roosters are so much better looking than the hens.

Because of the way the coloring is on the dad of my eggs, he looks like he has long braids coming off his head and down his back. A very cool looking dude.

There are several breeders over here that have the Creole Bantam Cochins and after these hatch I will probably get another dozen from a different line or two. I'm from the US and hubby is English and I've already told him that if we ever move to the US than I'm going to be bringing the chickens with us! It is amazing how excited I am about my future chicks. It was only two years ago that I realized what lovely colors, shapes and sizes that chickens come in. I grew up with White Leghorns. Hubby wasn't quite so sure about getting chickens but he bought me the eggs we are currently hatching to cheer me up.

If nobody minds, I can post a pic of the chicks if I manage to get them hatched.

Thank you very much for the welcome!
