Beautiful! What color are they?

They are lavenders. I kept two, sold the others.

I am going to Ohio Nationals, should I or should I not buy some cochins there. Have any of you gotten birds there before? I am so excited.

Aren't they a fun bird? I let mine free range. They come running to me when they hear that back door open. They talk away to me. The squat for me and let me pick them up. Too cute.
I went to buy a bird from a man one time, and I saw some of what I went for out there free ranging. He says, come in here, I have some in here. The ones he had for sale looked awful. They were in these small cages that weren't kept. I just asked him if I could get one of those out there, because I thought these looked like these had some health issues. He had a surprised look, and said, umm...well,, umm...sure.
Anyway, when I first walked in, I saw this most beautiful blue Cochin. I said chuckling...I'll take that one, knowing full well that it wasn't for sale. He told me that was his daughters show girl. I made over how beautiful it was. It was kept in that building all the time, as to not get dirty. Then he took me down the row to some cages at the opposite end of the birds he showed me that were for sale. He had more beautiful cochins..in a small, but very clean cage. The rooster was unreal. Just gorgeous. They were his show birds. It made me sad that they were kept in there so as not to get dirty. No show coming up anytime soon, because I asked. At least his daughters bird was walking around on the floor, and not in a cage. I had heard of people keeping their birds in cages so they wouldn't get dirty, or any kind of problems with feathers..but I hadn't seen it. So sad. I like seeing my girls being themselves out there, and they love being out there. I did say something about the ones that looked bad, but I couldn't say anything about the ones that were nice and clean, and had a clean place. To each his own, I just say, some chickens are luckier than some others.
Your place looks so nice and clean, and they have a lot of room in that coop.
