Making an assessment from a picture is very difficult but from what I think I'm seeing I believe you have Blue chicks. There is such a wide range of color when breeding Blues that you can have chicks that look black but when they mature - sometimes after the first or second molt - they develop the very desirable Navy Blue color. A lot of folks like the light blue color, and it is pretty, but it is not what you try to breed for if you are an exhibitor.
As far as how you could end up with Black chicks when you ordered Blue, you are working with the Andalusian gene which produces Blue, Black and Splash. The only way that you can end up with 100% Blue chicks is to breed a Splash colored bird to a Black bird. Looking at the first pictures of your chicks where you are showing the white feathers, I suspect even more that they are Blue. That just looks more like the white I've seen on the Blues than on the Blacks.
Good information. Thank you! I have avoided the Andalusian blue because there are so many variables. I did get a Blue Mottled girl as part of a pair. I was buying the Black Mottled roo to improve type in my Mille Fleurs and she came with. She is just so pretty I can't resist.
This is a pic from December shortly after I got her. She has filled out even more since. I've got to get out to take some more pics!
