Cochin Thread!!!

What is sad? Is the gene damaging to the bird somehow? I dont know much about the genetics yet....is it like a double merle australian shepherd?
breeding 2 frizzles together is generally a bad idea. the feathers are more brittle, there are fewer of them generally, and the bird ends up looking like a nearly bald porcupine because the soft bits of feather break off leaving a bare shaft. they can not maintain body heat as easily either, cannot fly, and has a much higher metabolism to be able to keep up with heat production to stay warm all the time.

Because that's what I have in my flock. I have a light brahma that I think is a boy. I will keep all the chicks I breed.
I have never seen a Columbian cochin color in our local area. It would be nice.

Umm, that might be him. I loved the pics of him when he was younger. His colors were more striking. He made me fall in love with that color.
