I thought that's what we were discussing...I haven't read this thread for awhile. I just read a few of the previous pages.
I am saddened that this forum has become something other than a place to discuss Cochins.
I'm moving on.......
she is bantamIs Astrid a Bantam or a large fowl?
She appears to have a nice round tail and nice type. Her skirt appears to be full and covers her feet nicely. I am no judge, but enjoy a bird with nice conformation.
Wonderful weekend at the Ohio National. Almost 6000 birds exhibited. About 150 Bantam Cochins displayed in open show and some very nice LF. Jr show was full of good birds. I won't list winners for fear of missing someone. Many very good birds there.
Knoxville is hosting the ABA nationals at the Knoxville fairgrounds in about a month. More excellent birds will be there. I hope to meet some of you there.
It's always hard to tell much from a picture, but I would say she is reasonably good as a breeder bird. The only reservation that I would have is that Blacks as a show variety are extremely competitive and have been bred to a very high standard. There are so many good Blacks out there that almost anything that isn't from the show halls would be considered of a lesser quality. That being said, she appears to have fairly good type.
Come on down! We had our Newport, TN show this past weekend as well, and there were no cochins thereI wish I could have gone again but our vacations are few and far between. I'm looking forward to Knoxville and checking out Tennessee though. If anyone has a chance to go to a large show sometime definitely check it out. The Ohio Nationals are certainly on a whole different level than the Fowlfest shows here in Michigan I had gone to previously. Lots of gorgeous cochins to drool over!
