Cochin Thread!!!

Very sad Christmas today. While we were upstairs opening gifts our dog Holly was outside terrorizing our chickens. She killed 3, injured one and one is lost. We can't find her. I lost some of my best (favorite) birds. Lost my sweet Sparkles, Norie & Cheech. My beautiful Caroline is hurt bad and Izzie can't be found. I am devastated. :hit

Only one is missing (Izzie). 3 are dead, one is injured. I am treating her wounds, giving her asntibiotics & TLC. She is cuddling with me tonight. I need to get her to eat & drink. Our GSD has never gone after the birds before. But she is a herding dog and she was bored outside while we were opening gifts. :( **** dog!

I'm sorry to hear about Caroline. I hope she recovers quickly, and that you find Izzy soon. Hopefully she was just terrified and is hiding somewhere safe and will come out in the morning looking for a good breakfast.

I feel for you. Went through a loss here last year. I had to change how I do things to protect my birds. I know you will raise some good replacements. Hoping the missing bird shows up today.

I hope so but it is freezing outside. I can only hope she found a warm place to sleep.

So sorry for your loss:( my sisters dog killed my favorite bird last yr.....I cried like a child. I hope you can raise up some more good ones...but I know it will never replace them. I hope the new year brings better things.

The injured one (Caroline, my favorite) didn't make it through the night despite all my TLC. She couldn't recover from the shock. I never found the missing bird. Even sent the dog out to look for her, she indicated nothing. :( She probably hid somewhere & died. All I have left is a trio, only have a few eggs to try (desperately) to incubate. If I'm extremely lucky I might get one chick out of that. No way I can replace what I lost. If anyone even has a bird that beautiful they wouldn't sell her for less than a million dollars. I am screwed. This may be the end of Funky Feathers Fancy Poultry Farm.
