Congratulations on your new babies, sounds like you have a very loving husband. My only question is what you plan to use for your lemon-blue program? Do you already have Brown Reds? They are a requirement to breed Lemon Blue which is already an accepted color although not a common one.
I have been talking non-stop about getting more cochins and my wonderful husband took me on a surprise drive today (I rode an hour and a half with a blindfold on talk about freaking lol) and when we got to our destination I had 2 whites, 2 blues, and 2 black mottled babies waiting for me! It was such an awesome surprise but apparently it didn't end there I have a red cockerel and a blue splash pullet to pick up tomorrow so I can start working on my lemon blue project!!!!
Lemon Blue is not recognized by the APA but is by the ABA. There are currently a couple of folks that are working on Brown Red large fowl and one that I know of that is producing some for sale. If you want a particular variety of Cochin, my recommendation would be to look on the Cochins International site for breeders of the variety you are wanting. There is also a Facebook page, but they don't have a breeders list.The lady I am getting the cockerel from today is a brown red, I am confused though all I have red about lemon blues said they are not recognized, maybe I am reading older material? I don't look to show my daughter is very into genetics and I don't know much but thankfully we have a 4h leader who is
