Rhandi, I loved the pic of Sunshine contemplating her navel when you first posted it, and now I see you have it for an avatar. I think you should send it in for the BYC caption contest pic.

I'm not saying that you don't have great bird's, or that hatcheries have the best. Im not the biggest fan of hatcheries my self. I think of the the same as puppy mills .But if someone ask if they sell something it would be a lie to say no and they do. They probably won't be blue ribbon winner. Like everyone you have. Sorry me say the truth upsets youI'm familiar with Stromberg's, the only thing I'll say about that is, you go ahead and get your show birds from them and I'll meet you in the show hall's. We'll see how well they do. BTY, you can show anything, the real question is how well will they do.
Sorry it's highly unlikely that you'll find a GL in time for her to NOT notice. It is a rare breed and unless you order from a hatchery (and they may be sold out) you won't get one easily.Help! I need to find a gold laced bantam cochin in western Wa! My little girl only has 3 chickens, all cochins, a black roo, a blue hen and a gold laced hen. Her sweet little gold laced got chased by the neighbors dog last night and flew up into a tree. She was too high up for us to reach on the ladder. I found feathers and pieces this morning. I dont have the heart to tell her what happened, I just said she wandered off. She hasn't stopped crying. She will be going out of town for the next week to a funeral and I would love to have a new "Baby" here when she gets back.
Please, if you have one that you might be willing to part with, or know of someone who does, let me know. If we can pull this off, it will be the highest point of her summer! We live in Shelton, WA.
delder, please don't think I'm upset. This is one of the things I hate about forums, it's all to easy for someone to come across in a way that they don't intend. My hope was to passionately make my point. Guess I did, just not the way I had hoped. Andy's right and he made several good points. There is so much that goes into breeding good birds, let alone show quality birds, that it feels very frustrating when folks claim they have show quality stock when they haven't even exhibited a single bird of their own. I decided to revisit Stromberg's and noticed that they have no pictures of their "show quality" birds. Believe me when I say there's a reason for that. One thing I will give them is their prices, of the birds I looked into the prices were very reasonable if in fact they really were SQ.I'm not saying that you don't have great bird's, or that hatcheries have the best. Looks like a hatchery quality Mille Fleur d'Uccle cockerel. I really don't see any Cochin in this bird and it's definitely NOT a frizzle. I think the crest you are referring to is actually his comb, but you're correct with the sex.
