Cochin Thread!!!

No, I would say that's a beard. Looks to have a pea comb too! Either way it's adorable!

I looked at the chick again and its not a pea comb, and not a beard. I guess it was just a bad pic angle. And everything I google, and looking at SOP, everything looks fine so far. Its not for show or anything. Just for my backyard enjoyment, so I really don't care, I'm satisfied. Thanks for your help though.

I'm thinking its a full cochin. I have several that appeared to have beards until they were a few months old. I loved it

It reminds me of my ameraucana chicks... Lol. Who know? I've been wrong before!

Oops, sorry for egging you on! From the pic I saw, it looked like my olive egger chicks, so that was what was coming to mind.

My cochin bantam hen, Scrambles, went broody again! Last time she wasn't laying on any eggs, but now she has 2 eggs under her that our other hens laid. How many eggs can a cochin bantam sit on? I don't know if the eggs are fertilized or not but if I try to take them out from under her she gets mad.
Also, my silkie rooster keeps jumping up and pecking the eggs if she jumps down to eat. Should I move her somewhere by herself or just leave her there? I don't have any where else to put her unless I put her in with the ducks...
Sorry for all the questions, I've never hatched any eggs before.

I'm not sure how many a bantam cochin can hatch, mine aren't broody

Though my Plymouth barred rock MINI hatched out 9 standard size eggs. Her name is rocket, sadly we lost her to a dog a few weeks back

Aw, I'm sorry! We lost 2 of our chickens, Dumpling and Pox, last year to a raccoon and a cayote. It's so sad when that happens.
