Cochin Thread!!!

What does everyone else use for a coop? I am looking for ideas, but haven't been able to find something I like. Especially one that fits my nufget
I'm assuming your nufget, is your budget.

I have a nice 40x40 pole building, and another pen in our barn, so mine wouldn't help you, but I got good laugh at your nufget.

Yes 40x40 is to big. I hope to have a coop that big for cochins one day though, right now in thinking of a 10x10 or 10x8 pole barn

Fresh raw milk would be a healthy snack, but I don't think it would pack the same punch as yogurt. It's the bacterial cultures that you are after. Why not try souring your fresh milk for them? A smidge of store-bought buttermilk in with your fresh milk would get things kicked off.

Are you talking about a shipping carrier, or something else all together?

Look at garden sheds or build one, and go bigger. Chicken math happens.I started out with a 8x12 then added a 10x16 last year.

Just wanted to "show off" my new rooster, Otis. He's a lightly mottled black.

And some of his "harem".

Ivory.

Hoping in a few years this little flock will have produced for me a whole yard full of "Ornaments".

If anyone is looking for LF hatching eggs I have some available my flock free ranges tho so no guarantee on color but I usually come out with a good amount of blue. I have had some broody hens hatching and last time I got some lemon blue, blue splash, black, and one white

I think that most people use USPS Priority Mail to ship eggs. It is a 1- to 3-day service. Tracking/delivery confirmation and insurance up to $50 is included in the price, but you can buy insurance for amounts over the $50. Those shipping or receiving very rare or expensive eggs seem to prefer Priority Mail Express, which is a 1- to 2-day service, has insurance up to $100 included and is guaranteed to be delivered on or before the USPS's expected delivery date for that package.

Sooo... I posted a couple weeks ago about my 3 Partridge Cochin and my 1 "uncertain" Cochin.. Still unsure if it is a roo or hen, but It's very much a family member, MUCH sweeter than the others... (Also havd a Leghorn Rooster Ive worked with... fell asleep on my 5 yr olds bed after a goodnight story lol) But this is Bei... my 1 month old (Color still unsure - Frizzle Cochin) I work with my birds with my Dog, kid, Hubby... Just so their used to noise, light and smells. Bei is awesome... HOPE it turns out to be a hen.
