Cochin Thread!!!

She's adorable regardless! What a little fluffer! Never planned on getting cochins or bantams and now have Cochin bantams and am so excited to see them feather out. How these were never on my radar before is so sad...I was truly missing out!
They're the best. (I'm biased though 🤫)

Just to simplify things so we don't get confused (so many great pics!) can you put one good picture of each chick into one post on your thread? I'll at least take a look at gender. 😁
I'll try but depending on their stance, they look so different! But I'll take a pic of each from today's little photoshoot and cross my fingers you see lots of pullets 😂😂😂

This is penguin my blue cochin

🤣

As long as I can see combs and wattles, that's all I need. They're 5 or 6 weeks old now right?

4 weeks today but there are def some wattles showing on some. But I have a single comb EE hen that had bright pink wattles emerge at 4 to 5 weeks that's def a hen so she's made me question everything :/
Cochins are different than EE, in the best ways of course.

Just let me know once you've updated your thread. You can post here or message me.

She's cute! Sorry Dog, but she's black.

Thank you both!! That’s what I figured but wanted to be sure. I figured if she was gonna have the markings, they would have shown up by now. She does have good feathers on her feet though. :love Some of them are questionable on that too haha

I’m guessing I probably shouldn’t breed her? Or maybe I could because she’s got good foot feathering? I wouldn’t breed to sell or show anything, just for fun, but I figured if she doesn’t have the pattern it probably wouldn’t be a good idea but maybe the cockerel would pass it on??

And just out of curiosity, would I still call her a Birchen because that’s what she’s supposed to be or would I just call her black??? You know, I did actually get one extra chick in my order and I thought it was another birchen Cochin but maybe they threw in a black? I’m just realizing this now. Maybe she is the extra chick and isn’t supposed to be birchen at all... whoops 😂🤣🙈

And yeah I never thought I wanted them cause of the broodiness but they are great. :love and I want the broodiness now 😂🤣🙈
