Cochin Thread!!!

I'll have to get a pic of mine. She has weird tail feathers, but I think that's because she doesn't really take care of her feathers. Right now she's broody, too.

I guess the best option is to bred them back to buff. I don't want to do anything to put black in them.

This little pullet (about 8 weeks old) is from a pen of MF Cochins. I also got a few black mottles from that pen. I don't know what to do either! Just waiting for them to feather out more.

Good point both of you - adding black for type isn't a very good option but your pullets sure are an appealing color.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the handbook "Cochin Bantams". It's a soft-cover, and used to be available from the ABA and several poultry suppliers, but of course, now that I want it, I can't find it.

Or, if anyone has a copy collecting dust that they'd like to sell, please let me know.

Or, if anyone has a copy and would like to trade for my "Silkies" ABA handbook, please let me know.

~Thanx!!

Thanx Matt! I didn't see it on Amazon, either. The 'unavailable' one ("Cochin Bantams") is the one I'm looking for. I checked the ABA store, Amazon, McMurray, Stromberg, and a couple other poultry suppliers that carry books. No one carries it anymore. I was told this past weekend (by a Master Breeder) that it has very good info specifically on breeding Cochins for the different plumage varieties, so I thought I'd give it a try.

THANK YOU, Everyone, that just sent me PM's regarding the handbook. The first PM did direct me to a source to buy it, and I have just ordered it.
