Overall a pretty good group of Buff Bantams. They are a bit rough, so it's hard to provide a good evaluation, plus getting feedback on photos is tough to begin with. The females are good and even in color. They show some slight shafting which is common in Buffs. The one female looks like she might be a little lighter in the wing as far as color. The females look pretty good. The male has a very nice head and comb. He's a bit shallow chested which throws off his balance. You want a fuller chest. That male and those females complement one another pretty well from a color perspective. You should get some decent results breeding them together.

Well, after 4 years of not having any birds. I will be receiving a pair of White Frizzle Cochin Bantams next Friday. Sent out the MO today so now I just have to wait till Wed to have them shipped. I will post pics after I get them. Cant wait ti finally have birds again.

You always want to breed birds for type. If you have a bird with better type but his comb isnt so great and another bird with a great comb and not so great type, you want to use the bird witht he best type overall.

Thanks so much! Thats what I figured, but I wasnt so sure how the offsprings combs would come into play, and if it would come back to bite me later!

imo type always comes first

My last hatch went badly, and I had only one survivor--a bantam blue--with no other chicks small enough to put it with and no broodies ready.
So I gave it a friend, and both are happy.

Good Morning!

APC, I see that you have chicks available...I have a mottled Roo and one black pullet and am already in love with the Cochin breed just from the few I have in Standard Cochin Chicks I hatched (not a good hatching yet...) but these two I bought already grown and I just LOVE them. The Mottled Roo is black and white....

I was hoping to see what you might have and the prices....PM them to me if you want. I am looking more for the blue, blue splash, maybe a mottled red-preferably no more roos but since I don't have a lot of experience yet if they wont fight then I would get another one. I only say that because by BR Roos were hatchlings together and everyone got along just fine until this last week. We were shocked to see it - anyway if Cochins are different in attitude let me know - I'd love to add some stock.

Thanks!

Yes thank you. Hopefully i well get better over the years at looking at type.

My coop seems empty now. I took 5 pair of Columbians and 3 pair of Blacks to the exotic auction to be held at Kalona Iowa this weekend. I kept plenty back of each type as breeders. Kept too many Black pullets back but couldn't decide which to sell. Hope everyone is getting lots of eggs and fertility is good.
