I do have large Mottleds (developing 5 different bloodlines) with excellent hatches and fertililty so far this year. I have about 50 large mottled chicks out so far and an incubator filled to capacity. Some of the older chicks are starting to show some type and tail carriage and I believe they will be as good as my blacks and whites. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will try to do so tomorrow, I am about 150 years behind the times technologically speaking. I hope to have a good string of Mottleds and Blacks to take to Indy this fall and a few to sell as well.

Where are you located in SE Ok? I am in Arkansas. I love my cochins. All are so gentle. We just lost one of our hens this week to a racoon. I would like to find some eggs...LF. Would you have any that I could buy in about 21 days. I have a incubator going right now. I ended up with a beautiful black LF hen and a barred rooster. I would prefer to find a black rooster and a couple of black hens or even chicks or eggs. Can't seem to find any barred cochins to go with my rooster.
Breed your barred male to black hens, then next year breed him back to the best daughters and so on. Barring is sex-linked and the male carries both copies so he will pass this on to his pullet offspring if I remember correctly. It will take a few years to clean them up but it can be done. I live in the metropolis of Garvin (pop. 250), actually the I'm in a suburb called Forest Grove (pop. 50). I like living in the fast lane!!! I have some black males 1 and 2 years old I can sell, they are very nice and I just have too many of them. No pullets, they tend to go quickly in the fall. Was just in Arkansas on Wednesday (Little Rock), needed to stretch my legs a little.
