sorry you are feeling left out. Forums can be tough. If you post, then something more interesting comes up, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle. It happens to all of us. Your pics are small and it's kind of hard to really see what's going on. If you are looking for a critique, post larger photos and in a couple of different positions and be specific about what your goals are and what you'd like for them to be. Another thing is ...day after day, people post their pet cochins and want to show them off. Many whom are on this thread are interested in showing and may not be interested in pet birds.. they are just totally different. I hope that makes sense. They are cute. I've never had a frizzle before so don't know if you can even really tell type with that kind of feathering.

He is soooooooo handsome!!!! I have a barred Cochin banty too who is a looker. He is my favorite. He chases my largest chicken( my Lemon blue Standard cochin) he is 9 lbs and runs away from my 32 oz banty! I have a barred hen and two partridges.

So sorry none of us answered your questions.
I am not sure any of us breed LF Frizzles, you may want to try over on the LF Cochin thread.
And I must say that I struggle to name any of mine and so often of the more than 500 chickens I have here not all of mine are named. You have to live with the name so you should pick it out. Maybe ask that over on the LF Cochin thread, too.

This is the only post I have found from you other than complaining that none of answered it. I am very sorry you feel this way about our wonderful Cochin thread. I often post without anyone answering and I have never had a fit over it. I really can't understand your attitude about our thread.

How about "Cheesecurl" for the frizzle guy?
Don't know that I've ever seen LF frizzle Cochins. I saw 3 black frizzle naked Turkins this weekend at an auction.

They were actually awfully cute but not is a Cochin kind of way.

This was a real problem in the d'Uccle thread, many folks are pet owners and the genetics and show topics seemed to alienate them from the discussions. Because of this a genetics thread was started, and folks could get as deep into the breeding and showing end of things as they wanted. There was a rather unkind comment made by one of the genetics geeks and it seemed to shut folks down, but while it was active it was very good and served it's purpose very well. I wonder if it might be helpful to start a thread like that for the Cochins. I know the LF folks started a thread of their own, maybe one for showing and breeding would be in order. I've seen this problem even before howfunkyisurchicken got left out, and I hate for new comers and pet owners to feel snubbed. Just a thought.............

Good insight. I would love to see a dedicated thread specifically about shows, showing, and helping people become involved in breeding to SOP. And one for genetics and breeding.
I sure have made a breeding or two where the results were not what I expected.

I wanted to share some pictures of my Patridge Cochin cockerel. I got him as a mystery chick and I have just fallen in love with him. He just keeps getting more beautiful each day. What I really love on this guy are the thin feathers that come off his back in front of his tail. Are those what you call hackle feathers? I also notice he does not have feathers on the inside of his legs. Is that normal for cochins? He came from McMurray so I apologize to all who dislike hatchery chickens. I just wanted a small flock of different breed chickens for pest control and a few eggs. He takes very good care of his girls.

Here he is in June at the age of 4 months:

I recently went to a large county fair to show my birds in 4H and my bantam white cochin pair got first in breed judging. I thought that was good considering how many chickens there were in the barn. I am so happy with my show results.Charles and Camilla did great.
