Wow! They are all very, very nice Mandy. Love the BLR's (especially the pullet(s)) and the Blue Mottled K, his eye color from this pic looks amazing. The BLR's look just awesome, you have done such a good job with them!

I LOVE Cochins! So many gorgeous birds on here!

I just have future layers, nothing special but I love them and I want more Cochins! Mine are still babies. I have a Partridge and a white cochin

Thank you Tom! I appreciate the extra set of eyes! As I mentioned, I've had my eye on the green band ckl from the start, but now I'm going to go back and revisit the white band pullet.

I have 3 Cochin chicks that I recently hatched out. These are my first. For the most part it seems to me that the females feather out faster than the males in most all of the chickens that I have hatched. So I was thinking I had two pullets and a cockerel as the Cochin chicks started to feather out. However the combs on the two I thought were pullets are starting to make me doubt that theory.

What is your experience with the Cochins?

When I had chicks this spring there were some posts on here about the feather developement and the shape of the bodies. It seems to be accurate that the males feather out slower than the females (I only have bantam cochins so I can only speak for them). The males also have a more tubular body and the females roundish. As far as the combs I just don't know. However, I do know that I have had pullets that crowed and by all means appeared to be boyish until they started laying eggs. I think it can be a tough call sometimes.
