Cochin Thread!!!

I'm stumped Gail, no discharge from her eyes, does not seem to have an impacted crop. I almost feel like maybe some sort of allergy? Have'nt changed their feed though. The only thing that I have done different in the last week was make them some pumpkin/cornbread. It almost seemed like she started acting this way after that? I am so afraid that I am going to lose her. I'm going to put her in a separate cage under a heat lamp and monitor her. Praying she's going to be okay, as always, my favorite bird. She comes running to me to be picked up and held, talks to me, a very sweet bird and so beautiful~ Bijou~ (french for Jewel )

Oh what a cutie she is! I had a very sweet Diamond Dove named Bijou that was a total sweetheart as well. Was quite heartbroken when I lost her to eggbinding... I hope she responds to your treatments.

Twyla, since I can't see her I'm taking a stab in the dark, but I've got a hen that developed something that looked like cradle cap. When I got her out and looked her over, I discovered that she had a mite colony on the back of her head. That is what created the crusty look on her skin. I just used bag balm and it came right off. I bathed her and applied ivermec and she is fine. As I said it's a stab in the dark but you might just give her a real good going over. When the birds get mites up around their heads I sometimes miss it because I'm usually looking at their rear-ends

Thanks Nancy, I'll treat her for mites, could be a good possibility, I looked her over on the back of her neck and such but did'nt see anything. Then again, my eyesite is not so good. I thought about putting some allergy cream on her wattles to see if that might help. It seemed like she was a little short on breath this morning, hoping this swelling is'nt restricting her breathing. Just does'nt look good though.
I should try to never have favorites, it's been hard with her though

Did a search this morning on this but could'nt find any information on it; my 10 month old blue mottled pullet has been acting a little down lately, she's eating and seems to have a good appetite but just seems a little listless. This morning I picked her up and was looking her over and noticed her wattles are very swollen and hard. Does anyone know what this could be? I am treating her with antibiotics right now.
