Cockerel hit by car

Is the gurgling and rattles a new symptom there before his accident? Do you hear any air escaping his wounds on his back? The lungs are near the back of his body (see diagram.) It sounds like he may have a sprained leg or hip.

Was the second POOP a regular Cecall POOP?

I’ve been away for the past week or so and they were not let out by me this morning so I’m unsure if he was previously gurgley. No one can really get super close to him during free ranging plus I’m the only one who really cares to keep an eye on those things when it comes to the birds unfortunately. It had been raining and the road was soaked when he got hit if that has anything to do with it. It’s been gross outside on and off the past few weeks, really damp and cold. Definitely no air escaping when he breathes, I haven’t found any air sacs either.

I attached some shots from earlier of the wounds I could find on him, plus the four “poops” he’s passed. The last one I found sometime around 5pm so it’s been about 2 hours since. He’s taken some water by drops from a syringe but has no interest in the crumble OR the scrambled eggs I made up for him..

First poop photo is the mostly formed fecal matter and it was the first thing he passed at 9am.
Second photo is the runny looking urate, he passed that at about 3:20pm.
The very small urate on the blue and white towel was the last to pass and it was right before 5pm.
Finally the big spot on my sweater was his second time going but I can’t recall what time.. didn’t get a shot of that one right away and then I got busy so it’s not a semi fresh photo like the others. I want to say it was passed sometime between 11-12 though.

That diagram is very helpful thank you for it btw! I’m saving it for future reference

I am unsure if he ate anything today.. I got home from work and he had everything all spilt and he was sitting on top of it all.

He did drink water on his own when I held it up and dipped his beak in it just a bit ago. He was acting weird when going to the container though? He was missing and it was almost like he couldn’t judge the distance and just kept missing it or not going down far enough to actually touch the water but he can put his head all the way down to his feet as I’ve seen him do it..

He looked interested in the peas I had heated up for him but when he went to go peck at them, if he was trying to, he would miss and just tap the towel and just hold his beak there before trying again??

It is tough having to be gone all day with a sick rooster. Is his food and water secured in his crate or pen? I use plastic coffee cans for water kept full, and drill holes in the can to tie them to the cage, or the chickens will spill them. Food goes into a shallow bowl tied up to about chest height.

Foods such as scrambled chopped egg, tuna, chopped or ground meat, and most important, wet soggy chicken feed changed out daily is what I try to tempt a sick chicken to eat. A bit of scratch or sunflower seeds as a treat helps.

Water is most important, and electrolytes are helpful. If anyone else at home can check on him or offer some treats during the day it would help.

His poop has a lot of white urates, and that can be due to not eating and drinking much. The usually white urates look very yellow in the last pic, and that could be from liver problems.
