I went to let the goats out, and they had obviously had a party. Barn was trashed. Feed bin tipped over with top off. Various items kicked all over the place. Had a concrete block in front of the stall door, but they busted it open. So now they are outside and it is raining. Of course, as soon as it started raining, all the girls ran for the goat house. Misty immediately threw out the other goats, except her daughter! She is large and in charge!

I wanted to get 3 more, and ordered 4, just for this reason. Now I wish I'd ordered 5, as I recently lost a hen. I looked to see what Mt. Healthy had available to ship the same day as my order. Nada. Of course the two breeds I ordered were sold out for the year (Bielefelder and Blue Australorp); kind of expected that. But only meat breeds were available for my ship date, and I don't want those.

I have a very small margin for more chickens. I only ordered because we lost our 2 silkies a month ago and the 6 because it’s the minimum and if they had all survived I may have had to give 3 away to the local high school farm. But now that 3 died and the 3 buff Cochins are thriving I’ll be at my maximum for the space I have. I would love to have more space and lots more chickens but it just ain’t the case.
We also take any and all eggs away from the pigeons as we can’t have any more of them
either…….

What day is your ship date?

May 14. I figure they'll get here the 15th or 16th. I need to talk to the people at the Post Office and let them know chickies are coming! And give them my phone number. And find out when I could get there to pick them up, if someone will be there early.

Maybe I should take them some cookies... in chicken shape?
