So what are y'all planning for dinner tonight? I have black bean with onions on simmering in the crock pot. Not dried. I cheated and used canned as it was a last minute decision and too late to soak.

will add some cornbread and voila! Dinner.

I'm making Chicken Breast in a Cream Caper Sauce with Cheesy Scalloped Cabbage and Rice Pilaf on the side.

Yeah, I know, the 'w' is still acting funky on this keypad. New one is on the docket....after the new hot water heater......

Y'know, this being an adult has been a kick but I'd like to be a kid again and let the grown ups handle all of this 'replacement' stuff, please thank you?

The picture is our dog that I wasn't supposed to bring home when I went to the pet store with my daughter. I walked inside and a lady had her dog there for adoption -it was mom and two puppies, a girl and a boy. Well, I looked at the one and she reminded me of a dog I had when my mom passed away and I never saw the dog again.

I called hubby and he said don't you bring a dog home When I got home she was so scared that I ended up putting her on Jenny's shoulder and she just curled up It's like she knew everything would be okay. We named her Prancer because that is how she would move in the beginning. She needed to grow into her feet, she was a Rottweiler/shepherd mix. But we think she had some retriever in her as well.

she passed away in September of 2017 at 12 years and 1month old
as crazy as it sounds, I still tell her good night

Don't feel alone, Meg, I think we have all done that at one time or another with a beloved pet that has crossed the rainbow bridge.

I still 'talk' to our border collie who died last January of old age. The vet thinks she threw blood clots. Lucy used to take her nose and 'bury' her food in its dish. It was funny to watch her. She would scoot all the food to one side then tamp it down like covering it with dirt. A lot of it would wind up on the floor but she didn't care.

Now, the biggest female Cattle Dog/Red Heeler, Sidney, started doing the same thing around Christmas. It was like Lucy was back with us again. She buries her kibble the same way. When I heard her 'burying' her bowl of food the first time I said, 'Lucy, of all the tricks to teach her, that wasn't the one I would have suggested'

Our cattle dog, Dingo, had to be euthanized in Dec of 2018 due to degenerative myelopathy. He was a kick. Stubborn and with a mind of his own we would call him and he'd turn, give us this big sappy doggy grin, flip his tail in the air and take off. Now we are seeing our red heelers doing the same thing. Both DH and I say 'Don't you dare pull a Dingo on me! Get back here!' They just give us that big doggy grin, flip their tails at us and take off in the opposite direction.

I'm glad some things don't change.

She is a beautiful hen @Meg-in-MT. I love her muffs.

I had an EE hen given to me by a friend who lays beautiful light blue green eggs. I was hoping to cross her with my Amish barnyard mixes but all of her eggs are infertile. Since I know my roosters aren't shooting blanks as I have hatched chicks from other hens. Sad for her.

I have 4 little SDW OEGB cockerels that hatched last summer. If I stuck a camera in their faces they would either try to peck it, try to sit on it or try to mate it. Yeah, not worth it to find out.

I'm sure that would be a real trick as the friend is a friend of my husband's and myself...and is a guy....
