Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers
Q cus sounds like you and I have the same lucky streak!
My daughter was in the miss" local" pagent last night and did not win .I feel for her so. She sang for her talent and until last night I had no idea how really good she was. I am not speaking as a a biased parent. You see I cannot sing a note, croaking is more like the sounds I make. I have a deep obnoxious voice just speaking,so when The Goose got up and sang and really nailed the music and everything I was astounded"as was the audience",but it is a small town and all on the court were long standing home town names.
I told her when she got into the contest she did not have the right name to win and so it goes!
Have agreat weekend God Bless!

Hey everyone,

I have just been so busy and Lord have mercy the phone just rang and it's a friend to repair a window. I just came in to take a nap after helping to put up some stockade fencing. I just hold it up and don't do much but it's time consuming and you get the idea.

I have a new grandson in TX that I'm going to see next Tues and Praise God things went well. My DD's first.

Trylin and I have been hatching and working on our flocks. I've got new BR's from Kathy in MO. and just had a hatch of chicks. Two of which are the bantam Brn lghn's I've been trying to breed.

School is out and I do a small volunteer job there serving soup to the kids. It's a small school only maybe 80 - 100 lunches and a few of them are soup. So it's Chicken or Bean, what size? Just a couple of hours but it keeps me out of trouble.

I can't forget Baby Darcy and our walks either. She can sure brighten my day.

We had lunch together and I couldn't find a bib so I put one of my T shirts on her. She's so much fun. We both like watermelon. And then there are our walks together.

I will try to keep up to see what's going on with you all.

Good Morning!

BUSY WEEKEND around here.
We put up some fencing and gave the second round of the fowl pox vaccine to the young chicks.... Also, got some paperwork done

I hate, I mean REALLY HATE, doing medical insurance paperwork!

We are having awful air quality issues. I am staying all congrested because of it.
The fires are burning in many of the surrounding areas and causing smoke so heavy that it looks like fog.
Just terrible! Horrid if you have to spend any time outside working in it. POOR Chickens, they have to LIVE it in 24/7

TODAY . ..
On my second cup of coffee. I got to get the crowd up in a few minutes.... We go to doctors today and tomorrow.

WONDERING:

Roosters / cockerels.... I have a few in bachelor pads - - three brothers to be exact. They are around 5 months of age.
Do you find that they just get to big for their britches when they are this age?
I had one fly over the fence this weekend to get a piece of the old man roo - - - didn't go well for the misbehavin teenager!
I had one do the leg bump thing this morning....

They are going to all end up in the soup pot if they don't chill their heels soon! I was just wondering if this was because they have NO WOMEN and if I was to give them some hens, they would stop being so naughty.

Good morning folks!

Started off the day with the chicks and the guinea pigs meeping and peeping right here in the bedroom. I'm looking forward to sending the chicks outside, but the coop can't be built until August (finances). The chicks are younger than I thought the originally were though, so happy day! They were born May 17th!
I'm debating the wisdom of letting my daughter sleep in this morning. Her schedule has been completely off for the last few weeks, and I'm wondering if letting her sleep until she wakes is a good idea or if I should bite the bullet and get her out of bed here in about a half an hour? Coffee is fresh and brewing right now, seems like we're going to see the sun today as well! Maybe a little gardening. Definitely a few loads of laundry!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Math no word on the news here about fires where you are. We don't have cable so that might be it. I do hope things clear up soon.

As far as the young 'ins go it depends on the breed. My dels seem to do ok. Uncle George has been going back in with Nick at night even though they've been separated for the winter. I had them separated so I could tell who's the daddy but they get along just fine other wise. Perhaps you need some Dels. They dress out good too.

Now introducing Henry Michael Palmer. I leave tomorrow for TX to see him. Oh yeah I'll see his parents too but he's the star of the moment.

Rancher,

I do have delawares.....

I have three breeds - - Black Copper Marans, Delawares, and Speckled Sussex.
The Delaware roosters are my FAVORITES....
The Marans eggs are my FAVORITES .. .
The Speckled Sussex hens are my FAVORITES....

If Delaware roosters had cheeks, I swear I would be pinching them all the time.... They are such sweet baby dolls!
The hens .. . well they are different creatures. They are so curious that it is PAINFUL. They have to bit everything NEW.
If you have a sore on your hand, well they will spot it before you get two feet in the pen, then they will attack it!

Well I can't argue with that run down. Nick and U. George had separate coops but when I let them out in the yard together George goes in with the Dels at night. He and Nick do ok.

No BCM's yet but soon I think. I do like the speckles but have orps instead. Buff, Lav, whte, black and BBS hen. So hopefully soon blue too.

Dels are my primary. I do have some EE's and RIR hens and a Lav Amer roo. Silkies and Ban. Brw leghorns and BR's. Oh and a couple of Friz's.

The Dels though? Lord have mercy, I was in the coop with my Cir. Saw and they were right under foot. Gotta love them.
