Collecting Cool Rocks! Minerals, Crystals, Fossils, Geodes, etc.

Your little cork shaped ones are crinoid fossils. View attachment 2445881
Cool I’ll look those up! I remember when I was in elementary school, I spent recess digging in a gravel pile with one of my friends who told me to look for them. I was probably in 4th or 5th grade, and obviously had no idea what I was doing! I don’t know what we did with them after, probably left them in our pockets and forgot. (and I can imagine 30 years from now finding the jacket I used to put them in)

I guess I haven’t changed much since then, since I still just pick up the “weird ones” and put them in my pocket without asking what they are :lau

In 30 years, when you find that jacket again, you'll probably have 2 display cases filled with rocks like I do. :lau

@R2elk besides the fact that you even make a rock look more incredible with your photography, what is this?? It looks agatized but it also looks kind of fresh on the outside, it's crazy looking!
My best guess is that it is a portion of a petrified dinosaur bone.

I’m wondering what it is to!

I’m willing to bet that the jacket will become it’s own fossil before I can finally track it down!

Interesting, did you find it yourself? If so that’s a great find!
No, I am not sure where it came from. It may have been a garage sale item my father picked up or something that my ex FIL left behind.

I have buckets of rocks from the same source along with some things I actually found.

Do you think this used to have a shell in it, or could it just be a rock with a hole that happens to look just like one?
