As I was digging through a box of stones to finish filling the rock tumbler, I found this.

Good luck on your hunt!
thanks! I'm a newbie to rock hunts other than nosing around a few places here and there. I had just joined a rock club the fall before covid hit so they've hardly done any hunts. But we did do one at the end of last summer (my first official hunt) and I found some crinoids, archimedes, blastoids, horn corral and a small crushed trilobite!! And something else I haven't figure out what it is yet. It's black, flat, looks leafy and about the size of a thumb print.

This weekend will be my second hunt and it's for geodes and fossils. As far as stones go I would love to find some tourmaline, that is my absolute favorite gemstone.

Just got a new rock tumbler after my last one broke. May share some of the cool ones from this batch after this cycle. :D

I also recently found a few crystals, I believe they are amethyst. Maybe one of you rock masters could help clarify. :D

Definitely share pictures!! I'm far from a master, I still have a lot to learn but I'm better at identifying stones than fossils for sure.

That sounds so fun!! We had to cancel a few planned rock and fossil hounding expeditions as well. I really want to go to Shark Tooth Island. We still plan on going but our priorities definitely shifted since then so I don't know when we'll get to go.

I have been doing some fun swaps with others that have been hunting for stones and fossils though! I received some ocean picture stone from Canada, petrified wood from Texas, and Hourglass selenite from Oklahoma in some fun trades! 🥰 Swapping is almost as much fun and hunting for them yourself!
