Colorado?

Yes, I'm in the mountains at 8000 ft. in Chaffee County, due west of Park County, and south of Leadville. What kind of chickens? All kinds. Silver spangled hamburgs, Rosecomb Brown leghorns, RIRs, Australorpes, Buff Orps, Welsummers, Cuckoo Marans, EEs, 1 Crevenour, 1 silver leghorn, 3 banty cochins, 1 banty buff brahma, 1 golden seabright.

Durango! That's where my husbands from. I still haven't found organic feed and every other chicken person i talk to says there isn't any on the front range. That's too weird. There has to be some...

Hi - I'm still finding my way around...I just found this site last night!

I'm in Falcon

Right now I just have 4 bantams that were given to us. We lost our entire flock of layers (a rather mixed lot, but much beloved) to some neighbor dogs last summer. I'm starting over now, with a chicken fortress.

I want to breed my own meat birds, so I'm planning to get some Cornish roosters and probably Rocks for the mamas. I'll be needing an incubator next spring then (I already want one, but I won't actually need one until then), so I'm open to suggestions on ALL of it!

So have y'all ever gotten together just to visit or anything?

I'd love to get together with other Coloradoans but we seem to be pretty far apart although I'm only about 35-40 minutes from Falcon.

I'm sorry about losing your chickens last year. We've only lost two and it was so sad for my kids and myself. I'm glad you're getting back into them.

Again ... welcome!

Ok, just bare with me, I am trying to put pictures on here for the first time, so if it doesn't work.....I'm sorry! This picture was taken last summer of my cousins BO that hatched out 8 of the 14 eggs that we put under her. We took all the eggs that were laid on one day and put them under her. She did a great job!

Lone Cowboy,

I think I have seen some of your chicken coups and hen boxes on craig's list. Not sure if you are the same, but if it is you, they look very nice! We did more of a "make shift" for nesting boxes. My husband used an older wooden shoe shelf and we hung it up horizontally. They we added some wood to the front to the eggs would fall out. Hopefully when they start laying this summer it will work well.

101 chicks! How exciting! Did you hatch all of them?

Yep, those are my coops and nesting boxes. Thanks

No, I didn't hatch all of them only 21 the others are from MMH and Murdoch's. I decided to get out of the chick business and just do eggs. I can make as much money on eggs in 6 weeks as I can on chicks in 7. Also, it's a lot less work. But you watch, I'll still be doing both when next year rolls around.
