Columbian silkies?

I guess in silkie world a black tailed white bird is a Columbian silkie? when I first heard Columbian Silkies I thought of a Columbian wyandotte(a black tailed white bird with lots of black not only on the hackles but also on the saddle) that´s what I call Columbian pattern, and when he asked if he was going to be getting more columbian silkies by crossing to buff, I thought, not possible at all even if one uses a Pet Quality buff silkies, even they are more restricted than what it needs to have a true columbain pattern(hackle and saddle) link to a pet quality buff silkie https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/434266/free-buff-silkie-cockerel

I´ve check the link you have provided and I just dont see lavender in them, but that´s because lavender is recessive and you wont see it on heterozygous form, your birds may be golden(S/s+ for the boys) and silver for the girls(S/-) remember that buff has lots of red diluters(Dominant Dilute, Db and Co can act as a diluter too) and when heterozygous for sex linked Silver(dominant over sex linked gold s+) you could end up with silver looking boys too...

there is a project calle the Champagne Brahma project going on(not mine), its buff columbian(columbian based on gold like buff columbian wyandotte) and the lavender gene add it, it looks amazing...

check this pic out, and check your columbian birds out, they just dont look a like

just to be sure and let everybody know, is the goal of the Columbian Silkie breeding project to have a black taile white bird OR to eventually breed the saddle and hackle black markings? will lavender have the same name? or like the coronation sussex which is columbian and lavender?
coronation sussex

on what E locus is these project going to be based? eWh(wheaten) lacking saddle markings but keeping the hackle markings? or eb(partridge brown) having both saddle and hackle markings?

here is the difference..(wyandotte based on brown and sussex based on wheaten)
u are very knowlegable and getting me lost somewhat lol im just telling u what i have done in my breeding program and what is working as for what silkie breeders are aiming for is columbian wyandotte but right now more in the cornation sussuex

ok now that I know you want a true columbian patterned silkie(just like wyandotte) let me be honest with you... get rid of your project birds(at least dont use them again in your columbian poject ever) they will never give you what you want, they may even carry Db(dark brown) only and lack Co(Columbian) Db will never give you a columbian pattern

ok having said that.... lets start the progress...

you see Columbian es VERY EASY...! is just eb and Co on a silver background... thats all....!!! and all of those genes are dominant(except eb but you will be working with other eb so thats a moot point)

things you will need..

a partridge silkie hen and a columbian wyandotte roo(on the small size, could be pet quality wont matter as this is the only time you will use him)...

get the F1s, all of them will be eb/eb Co/co+ S/s+(golden for boys) S/-(silver for hens) get the best looking boy and breed him back to the partridge hen, now you will have 75% blood on the cross chicks, get the best looking ones(hens and boys) with the closest type to silkie(black skin, feathered shanks) and mate them together and just wait for your home made Columbian Silkies.....

or start with other project birds and save some time.... just make sure you see hacke and saddle marking

i dont have black tailed buff no more also the one i had also had black on its wing tail and neck thats what i used for my first generation now im about to use the best pair that i got out of that

i only have 2 and those are the birds on my website as when i started my project with my lavender and the buff with the black in tail, wing and neck she laid me 5 eggs and then she got killed by a hawk so only got 5 eggs out of her instead of geting more and only 2 hatched at first i was worried that both would be the same sex but got lucky and they are a piar.

well the buff bird you are describing is what people call buff columbian, thats a columbian based on gold instead of silver, I think you may still keep them as breeder
