Columbian silkies?

What color hen would I use with them to try and reproduce or improve on the color? Are they typey enough to continue breeding them?

Blue Buff Columbian sounds so exotic! His color is so unique - similar to a buckskin horse. Not even close to anything I have right now. What about crossing him with Green Head pink wings? She is possibly a very, very light version of his color.

I have that light gray girl also, how neutral is gray?

I have my black hen also. I remember reading that black was a neutral in chickens.

When I use a name such as blue buff columbian, it is a combination of varieties and/or genotypes. In this case the bird has the columbian pattern with buff ground (instead of the usual silver (white) ground) and blue base. I try to be as specific as possible rather than making up names such as "fireworks sparkler" or "caramel soda."

I wouldn't call grey neutral; but black is the closest there is to neutral in chickens.

It is not very flattering and a bit out of focus but you can see the color hues. Both their feather coats have gotten shinier and fluffier since then. Green Head is about three weeks older than he is.

So when do you expect their chicklets

Love the name!!!
I've been reading a bit on the brahma threads and they have what the refers to as light of buff brahma. but in universal cicken terms columbian and buff Columbia. And they all seem to agree that the pattern is the same no matter what the color and often you breed them together. the colors don't dilute with out a blue or lavender gene. So work on the pattern should progress no matter what color mix of the columbian pattern. Plus I sooo love the buff and blue and coronation and Delaware and all the other exciting new colors for silkies to dress up in :)

In sussex and brahma, the "light" variety is columbian, and "coronation" is lavender diluted columbian. In brahmas, "buff" refers to buff columbian; other breeds have both buff and buff columbian. In plymouth rocks, cochins, OEGB, rosecomb, etc., the variety name is "columbian." Delaware is columbian plus barring: the black areas are barred.

Ok I have a genetic color question.
When I breed my Columbian Rooster to a white Hen would I get columbian chicks or white?Or mixed chicks some Columbian and some white?
