Comb Genetics

So why do people call a mixed comb a modified comb? Is it because the genes get modified a bit resulting in an off comb?

Some comb genes modify specific parts of combs...such as the rough or smooth rose comb...or the addition of horns atop walnut combs. Some comb genes work together to modify the overall appearance of the comb...a walnut comb is the combination of the pea comb and rose comb.

I have a brahma mix chick, I almost want to say it mixed with a Rhodebar because of the white dot on it head??? If that's the case I guess this chick is a cockerel but I was wondering about the comb?? Take a look and let me know if you think it's a pea comb or something else? This chick is 2 1/2 weeks old.

That's not a Pea Comb, looks like a modified double comb. I got that type of comb now and then from crossing Single and Rose Comb.
That chick has a Rose Comb breed or two in it's not to distant background.

Is the single comb that is to large and doesn't stand straight up hard to correct? My rooster has good conformation except for his comb being to large and flopping over. Will this be passed on to his young or will some of them have smaller straight standing combs?

Hello.. I just need a lil help here with my Buff Brahma Male 6.5 months old Comb. I'm confused if it's "Rose Comb" OR a "Pea Comb" OR whatever it is.

And how can I get 'Pure Pea Combed' off spring from this male?

1. Should I cross it with pure pea comb hen? OR 2. Should I cross it with an Im-pure Pea combed (Like my male is) hen?
