Daren, you should double check the wattage for the light-bulb heater. My guess is that you should be using a smaller wattage bulb, and that'll save you some money, too. I'd use an oven bulb, myself, as they are coated to prevent easy breakage as well as being a lower wattage.
It doesn't take much at all to keep the water thawed, so a 25w ought to do your job well. Many folks use those fake candles meant for your windows at Christmas in a cookie tin, and those are what? A 15w?
Where'd you get the bulb warmer? It has to have a sticker on it that says what wattage.
I use heated dog bowls, filled with sand. That makes a nice heat ballast to keep the water thawed even if they knock the plug out of the outlet, which they do daily.
