I just came from my pool. I went out this morning to do my chores and got so hot and sweaty I told my granddaughter "get your suit on we're getting in the pool". It's 4:00 pm and we only got out to eat sandwiches then snacks later at poolside and back in we went. Nothing more to do outside until it starts to be less hot this evening. Hope everyone is staying well hydrated. Take care!


Waiting on my order of pinless peepers. I have some girls with bloodied rumps from pecking. Some of my girls have just turned mean about his pecking.

I agree about the heat today - and the wind added to it and DANG. All the outside work is done for 7:30 a.m.!!! I need to can some tomatoes...not sure how that's going to work out but I'll give it a go early in the morning. Then I want to process the rest of my "fry pan special roos" this weekend. Gotta make room for an August 10th delivery of 13 Cornish X and 12 assorted egg layers!! I'm kind of excited. Hope we have a break in the weather by then!!

I ordered from McMurray - I expressed my concerns to them about the heat. They said the biggest danger isn't the birds getting too warm but getting too cold when they arrive at the PO and get set in front of an AC vent. I've read that on other posts as well.

I understand that. I had looked into it myself after Renee mentioned it the first time. Problem is I procrastinate, and I didn't do anything about it. Well the bills have gotten so high that I decided to take money from what little I had saved to pay for the windows. I wanted to buy a different car cause I don't have one that has a working AC any more. But the windows won out.
If you two are looking at windows, this place is by far the cheapest I have found and have a 0% interest deal. I can't say for sure how great they are yet, cause it will be 6 weeks before I get them installed. But they gave me a very long list of customers I can call for references.
I had planned to try to replace one window a month just buying them off the rack and installing them myself. But I couldn't ever get any help and my old windows are too heavy for me to handle alone. This way it will be done.
I lost my job of 24 years too and it sucks having to adjust to a much lower income. But we can all adjust. After working in a corporate world for years it is wonderful to have time for my birds and my hobbies.
What ticks me off is all the government programs that were supposed to help are being ripped out from underneath us. I don't like discussing politics, but I sure would love to see Obama have to suffer like millions of Americans are now in this economy.
PLEASE do not let this start a political outrage. I'm expressing my own opinion, not trying to start an argument!!!!!!

Okay- ignorance strikes again! I screwed in all those hangers... and then cut down 1/4 inch off the 2X4's only to discover that when I put the boards into the hangers, they are too HIGH! So I spent all evening readjusting and lowering all the hangers down with the board in them so I could see exactly where they needed to be. Geez. Anyway, all done!!! I did find out that I am missing a board. I thought I had bought 7 and I came home with 6. I checked my receipt and I paid for 6, thank goodness. I have to go get my subflooring tomorrow morning anyway, so I'll pick up my extra board that I need. Then I can start to frame!!! This isn't taking too terribly long- despite the fact I can only work 2 hours in the morning and about 2 hours in the evening.

Just remember that it wasn't President Obama that rerouted those funds, it was our Tea Party Governor that hijacked them. Let's put the blame where it belongs, on people who prefer big business to the little guy. It sucks that the ordinary person is taking the brunt of all the cuts in funding, I agree completely.

No, I just ordered some pinless peepers for my feather picking chickens.

Two years ago we replaced all the windows in our house with dbl hung vinyl windows from Sunshine Home Improvement Company. We love them!!! Now if we can get some more insulation in our attic we'll be sitting pretty. Hopefully this Fall.
