Almost makes me want to find a couple "live" eggs just to give her a real chance.
Oh I would, for sure. Perhaps someone here can help you out with some fertile eggs?

Such sad news![]()
So sorry to hear about your dog, Checoucan and Verna's mom, too.
Scary about the blood sugar! I have been diabetic for several years now, and have just recently gotten it under control. I can't imagine having a sugar that high!![]()
We had to make a trip to the ER last night. We were out to dinner and my 3 yr old tipped his chair back and fell. He was crying so hard that he couldn't get a breath and was grabbing his throat, I though he was choking! He finally got a breath and let out another cry, so that was a relief. Then...I noticed the blood aaalllllll over my hand! He had a gash in the back of his head! I grabbed a napkin and put pressure on it, and it stopped pretty quickly. I'm glad I'm not one to panic, 'cause all this sure would have done it! He was fine, except for the
Yup, it's water!"
Rub-a-dub dub, three ducks in a tub
I have TONS more pictures to share, but I'll save some for later. Otherwise this will be a two page long post, lol.
It's official. I am certified and lisensed chicken/crazy/psyco.
We picked up my cages.
We miss you very much as well Danz. Thank you for the updates and please know that we are all here for you!Good Morning all. Just wanted to check in and say thanks for your sentiments and a special thank you to Hawkeye and Ivy for their help.
The viewing is this evening and the funeral is tomorrow. Those are going to be some extra tough times.
I miss the chicken talk and all of you. I'll be back in a couple days.
Oh that's right - its time to pick up the KSU pullets isn't it? I was very tempted by those but am glad now I didn't get any as I had hoped by now to have my coop almost completed and instead.....I haven't even startedBaseball season kind of got in the way. I didn't count on 5 practices a week, a tournament every other weekend and starting next week, 2-3 regular season games per week.![]()
I hope you have fun!!! Be sure to post pictures, I'm curious as to what you come home with!!I felt kind of crappy all day, but managed to climb out of my funk late this afternoon. I just finished getting the layer coop all cleaned out and ready for the K-State girls (pullets) tomorrow. It's going to be an interesting ride home tomorrow with 40 pullets in the back of a jeep!
Oh I feel so sorry for my Miss Nellie! She has decided to go broody! I find her every evening very carefully warming the day's bounty in the community nest! And every evening I take them all away! Poor thing - she doesn't know there won't be any babies and she is doing her best to keep everything toasty all day. No roosters = no babies![]()

I'm pretty sure Checoukan could help you out with some fertile eggs! I know she's not that far from you.
David, I don't know if you got your nest box lid problem solved-- but I just came across this posting today!! It's fabulous and they used a shower pan liner which is made of thick rubber! Perfect, they have lots of pictures attached-- https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/654250/waterproof-nesting-box-lid They explain it step by step on what they did and used to install it. This looks like a great solution!

The class has been full, but we finally set it up for May 3rd.. couple weeks, not too bad. They told him to bring the "cook of the house", which is me, so I'll be attending as well. I'm glad I'm going so I can be aware of what to do in case it starts going the other way while they are adjusting the meds and it drops too low. He was doing so good with the pills and diet, we've already eliminated all sugars and watch the carbs, but lately (and girls.. you can close your ears to his cuz it ticks me off as well) but he has been losing weight like crazy and needs to gain 40lbs. They said it was a symptom of the diabetes. Who knew. I never knew that Type 2 could affect anyone, especially someone like him that religiously works out every day and weighs only 155lbs. (yes.. he does have to gain weight - kinda wish that were MY problem. LOL) We'll get it figured out. It's interesting at how something like this doesn't just affect the single person with the disease, but instead affects the whole household. I did loose some weight just by having to switch to diet pop. I didn't want to tempt him with the regular in the house. Now, i don't even drink pop hardly at all. I think it was the sugar that my body had craved before. I get my morning coffee caffeine and I'm good for the day. I've been drinking those Mio shots with water - and I love them!! If you haven't tried them, they are great. One of those little things has lasted me 2 weeks and that's filling my big hospital mug twice a day!tweety, I hope your DH gets his blood sugar under control so he can feel better, that's really hard on the body bouncing around like that. Has he gone to the Diabetic classes since he is having to do the insulin now? I'm sure it will be a little different than the oral meds. My granddaughter's mother is a Diabetic & has been on insulin for quite awhile now. She doesn't do really well with her diet & controlling it & she's a nurse, yeah sad, I know. She knows better of course, but you can't tell her anything & I don't think anyone tries because they would get their head chewed off.
Bama-I will be picking up some pullets from KSU tomorrow. These have been raised at the KSU poultry facility and have been vaccinated for just about everything under the sun. I ordered more than I want to keep (what was I thinking?) but I have offered the extras to Verna if she is interested. I just don't know the answer to that yet. If she doesn't, you would be welcome to purchase some from me. These will be great layers, and they are nearing the point of lay. I will try to let you know soon if I will have any extras.
Thanks for the offer for the help. Mike disconnected the trailer, and it is still parked. I need to figure out how I'm going to reconfigure the barn (again!) before I unload and put them in there. I may just put one of them in for now. We will see.
