My 4 week chick was constipated so after consulting numerous forums and Google, I bathed and with tweezers gently removed a huge solid poop almost as large as the chick. I have isolated it and provided some porridge and raisins which it has eaten. It has drunk water and has had another solid poop and now some diarrhea. I have now noticed it has, what I think is a large expanding crop between its neck and shoulder. Should I just keep it on a water diet until the crop reduces? the poop and chick have a putrid smell

How about some yogurt and apple cider vinegar added to the water. Maybe someone else has more experience and can help.

thank you. Put it back to sleep with the mother hen and it survived the night but looked a bit worse for wear. Its crop had gone down but it looked like it was sweating and still smelt bad. Isolated it today with a yogurt diet, apple cider vinegar in its water and some spinach. Certainly has picked up. I have just tried it with some chick starter and it has pooped and is looking more alert. Thank you for your advice and support :)

How does the poop look? If still constipated, try some olive oil in with chicken starter. You can add a little warm water in the chicken starter to make it easier to eat also.
