I have one ... LOVE it! Let's me check up on the girls without disturbing them. And they are so funny to watch. Sometimes they actually stare directly at the camera like they know I'm watching and cock their heads. They are so much fun.

Mine is a wired cam, since my girls are house chickens and live in their pen in the basement. I just got a couple usb extenders and was up and running in about 20 minutes.

That's it! I really want one now. But mostly to check on my chicken sitter. Last vacation they were not fed or watered for two to three days......UGH! PLus I can watch them while out of state. How awesome.

I will have to check and see what this device was called but basically it is like a relay system that extends your signal from your wireless. Somebody may no off hand but I will check and posted it at lunch. I was checking into it in case my signal was not strong enough. There is always a way. I am picky who I give my IP addressout to because it gives that person access to your computer and if the right person has it and knows what they are doing they could be very distructive. Just word of advice that was passed along with me.

The device I was trying to think of was a WiFi Booster Antenna. So that may be a fix for some.

What Brands of Camera do you guys have installed in your chicken pens? I am wanting to install one in my pen. Keep finding dead mutilated chickens in the pen and would like to find out what is killilng them. Something is ripping them apart.

I just ordered a wireless, nightvision webcam for my coop (chicks will be moving outside in two weeks). Between the webcam and BYC I am not going to get any other work done.

We have a truth cam motion activated camera, pointed at them where they spend the night in a small mesh dog kennel. Used it to figure out what got several chickens. Caught pictures of the raccoon harassing them. Then later we caught it in a live trap. It was a mean desperate animal. Still don't trust that they are safe. The chip goes in the computer and you can see what went on, day or night.

Hootoo Ip camera is the brand that the camera gut put in. It is a spin off of the Foscam. I am watching their morning behaviors as I have my coffee this morning. Better than TV. Except when Green Bay is Playing
