Corid 9.6% liquid

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sorry you are dealing with Coccidoisis in your flock! It can happen in all flocks in time. I recently had an outbreak in my older adult flock. Too much rain over short periods of time can get the cocci multiplying. It's everywhere...in the soil, blows on the wind, along with being in the intestinal tract of many birds and animals.

Good luck! Make sure not to use medicated feed when using this medicine. No additional vitamins either.

Hoping for a full recovery! :)

So no medicated chick started or probiotics w vitamins while on the cordid. Should they still free range? And I clean the coop immediately or after the meds are completed?

And if I make a gallon and refrigerate it cannot be used every day for the seven days?

Thank you

I used 2 tsp for 5 days, then 1/2 tsp per gallon for 7 days. Mixed fresh each morning (really no reason not to make sure the treated water is as fresh as possible).

I still let mine free range while being treated but just make sure that the medicated water is their only source of water. And I cleaned the coop right at the start of treatment as well as after, I'm thinking being thorough is the way to go.

I meant mix a gallon jug then add to their waterer as needed. No contamination to the clean jug of medicated water in the fridge.

Also what about the medicated chic starter? Do I need to go buy other feed while on the cordid?

And no probiotics until after the cordid?

Just want to make sure I do it correctly.

This is what the FDA and the mfg recommend when treating a severe outbreak.

If you don't want to waste it, just make one quart at a time - 1/2 teaspoon per quart. Personally, I don't worry about them being on medicated feed and Corid water at the same time.

The amount I mentioned is for liquid Corid. Powder dosage: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/818879/updated-corid-and-amprol-amprolium-dosing

And I was making medicated water a quart at a time as I only have 4 birds so making medicated water by the gallon was overkill.

I haven't use any medicated feed so can't comment on if it's safe to use with the Corid. I did give them a little bit of probiotics (just the Sav-a-chick stuff) after but now that they're all healthy again they're just getting plain water.
