She honestly is like a dog and comes when you call her name.

I'm already feeling that way about the meat chickens 😂 I sold 46 of them and only kept 8. They were grossing me out 🤮 they're bigger than my 3 week old turkeys and they're only 2 weeks.

I'll stick with dual purpose chickens.

When I went to go get some of them that I just sold and put them in a box, they were trying to eat my hand and my feet 😳 They're little gremlins
One of mine would come when you called her and wag her tail feathers like a puppy. She was awesome and I miss her a lot (passed of old age.) I'd set mice snap traps just because she liked them so much. Part dog part cat.

And yep, the CXs are a freak of nature.

I love Coco so much. She's such eye candy too. I haven't clipped her wings because I like having her walk around the yard. She's almost like a guard dog, but she doesn't bark or make any noise. She hangs out with my drake Pekin a lot. She also chases the roosters off when the hens don't want to mate 😂

I don't need to buy local, I do my own meat.

Local farmers don't have any meat either. They are using it for their own families and friends.
Local farmers don't have it, but they often use local processors who do! In my area, there are two small scale butchers that handle most of the 4H livestock. They generally have meats, or farmers willing to split a cow/pig/whatever. If you can't or don't do your own meats (you are truly lucky, there!) there's usually an option out there, somewhere.

Ok, y'all....for those that hatch...where are you getting eggs from? Besides your own birds I mean.

If anyone recalls the "lost" in shipping incubator from a few months ago that I tried to get, well now another store has the one I want but I'm not sure where to get eggs from. Hatcheries are sold out, and my own birds (Aussies and Blue Rocks) can certainly give me hatching eggs but I don't need any more of those. My new chicks won't be laying until well in to fall so I'm stumped how to get any eggs.
Craig's list is bare! Hardly any regular chicks this year either.
Last year there were several local farms that had everything...now it's like a ghost town.
Not a ton of listings in the egg section here either.

Yeah I don't have to worry about it. We have 4 different bird meats (Turkey, Chicken, Quail, and Duck) I'm very lucky I was able to do it this year. Next year maybe I'll try a pig.

There are no local processors in my area. Closest is 2 hours away that's why I started doing my own and not dealing with a processor because that's a long stressful ride for everyone involved.

Now THAT should make an interesting cross! Pictures when they get here?!?!
Yeah there's 2 almost ready to pop out. I keep peeking because I'm so excited.

It took me 3+ weeks to get the BJG out of my females. I'm a lot more happy with my new roosters. They're so funny too. One follows me everywhere, he's so curious what I'm doing. He even checks the nesting boxes with me when I get eggs. Then he checks my egg bucket every time before I leave the gate 😂

He wants to make sure you’re not stealing his girls eggs 😂🤣

Hey! Those are mine! She might hatch those! 😂🤣

He looks like a health inspector 😂 I bet a lot of people would flip their lid if my rooster got as close to them as he does me. At first I thought he did it because he wanted to attack... Nope, he just wants to be next to me at all times because he likes me.
