Thank you for that.
My entire household has lifelong issues that make us high risk for serious complications.

A few simple precautions can save so many so much misery.
I will never understand why some feel so cavalier when everyone is at risk from the very young to the very old.
It's the " It won't happen to me "syndrome.

I think you're perfectly right to put things in perspective but information that comes over the news isn't "fright mongering". It's information. What people do about it is what they do about it but willful denial isn't any more constructive than panicking.
There is no willful denial, nor is there rampant feeding into it on my part either. With my scarred lungs and 3 duets with.pneumonia over the past 15 years, I AM in the at risk group. And yet, I still work everyday. I still keep people's spirits up. I find it comical that folks lambast those who do not "take this seriously". Define taking seriously, being aware and being hygenic while continuing to live, or holing up after an outing of hoarding from the supermarket?? I keep it in perspective because its true. How many die by suicide a year? By auto accident? By overdosing? People minimize those stats everyday, yet this new pandemic, while having killed over 8k has had 80k recoveries and something around 200k global cases, all of a sudden causes panic. You know what is more infectious than Covid-19?? Fear. Stealthy, silent but present fear. While home a good episode of Star Trek:TNG to watch would be "The Drumhead". It shows how much more damaging slowly rising panic is over initial causes. Don't take this as a personal diatribe or lashing out, just that I see folks starting to be fearful as if we were on the verge of nuclear war, and that is a dangerous thing.

A couple decades ago, I had garden potatoes stored in the basement that were disappearing. Them I caught the dog grabbing and eating them raw. He had free feed, so he wasn't hungry...St Bernard that lived to 12, maybe he was so big a raw potatoe wasn't much
It's the parts of the potatoes that turn green that are dangerous.

Sounds FABULOUS!

In our area the farmers' markets are continuing for the time being. I hope people will handle things carefully and wash whatever they bring home before they forget about it but being outside is a good thing, I think, and plenty of room to stay distanced.

Just got back from the Amish market - replenished bread, vegetable and OJ supply. Traffic was moderate and folks were 'social distancing'. I have long been a people watcher and read people fairly well. Stress/fear/near panic was evidenced in their stance and faces. Hopefully common sense will prevail.

Willful denial is far more worse.
