Rest assured that on Animal Sunday, there is no such formality ... AT ALL! In fact, at the last one, my roos were particularly quiet and Fr. John was concerned that they weren't there. Who knew that he now expects roosters every year? I assured him that they were, indeed in attendance and he shocked us all. He CROWED! And of course, The Boys responded in kind. The whole place erupted in laughter. It was quite awhile before my boys settled back down, but everyone was great about it. I LOVE my church family!
I’d definitely bring roosters. I love my boys. They’re a bit crazy though.

Mine love to be held, but they love being the center of attention 😂 if you don’t acknowledge them they’ll let you know they’re there.
You must have taken my chickens, they are all like that! "Drama queens and roos."

Things are gradually opening up in NJ now that the trend is positive. On Monday dentist's offices will be allowed to open. On 3/13 I received temporary new teeth - supposed to last 7 to 10 days. Well, we know what happened to that. I managed to break one temporary crown and lost one veneer. Dentist called yesterday and asked if I would like to come in as an emergency patient today and get my new teeth installed. I jumped at the opportunity. I am quite happy as they look completely natural, and once again I can eat an apple or corn on the cob. Face shields, masks, PPE, sanitizers were in full use.

The potato works! Trust me. That's how I do it!
Okay ... It's Question Time! How? And how long does the potato have to stay on there ... and how long does it take for the raw spurs to harden up enough for the bird to go back with the others ... and does it work for hens? I'm sure I have lots more questions ... but those are the ones that come to mind.

I'm asking because I have a young Jersey Giant hen that broke a spur jumping from a high roost. She did REALLY well at last year's Maryland State Fair (Best American Breed ... at only three months old!) If the Fair goes on (in doubt, at the moment,) DD wants to take her back, but we need to do something about that short, broken spur. Not only does it mar her beauty, but the ragged edge collects gunk. That can't be healthy for her.

You need to experiment. Each bird is different.
