My 96 year old great grandma caught it but she survived and she’s living a great life!

I’ve been hatching every month since October lolSo far, so good today. I guess this is going to be a long, slow wait. But Dean is still not on a respirator, so we'll count that as a serious plus and try to get back to the day-to-day stuff while pacing.
So - the crushed egg didn't make it. There was no movement for two days, so I just opened it up. There was a LOT of blood and a dead chick that was much too young to have survived outside the shell, yet. Based on the lives inside, there was just way too much damage to a very dirty egg. Which begs the question, if a broody gets poo all over an egg, is there a way to clean it off without rubbing the mess into the shell's pores, or is it better just to leave it?
On a more positive note, the dented egg looks like it's still alive and the late addition is still veined, although there's a line that's beginning to look suspiciously circular.
On a MUCH more positive note, We have a BABEE! There is one very noisy little Nankin still fluffing up in the 'bator. I'm debating on whether or not to put it out with GemZilla and her four-day old. I have a feeling she'll take it, but she's so aggressive that I'm a little afraid to try. I don't know if I could get it out in time, if she decides "Nope!" Thoughts?
On a side note, @FortCluck, I am envious of your mega-hatches. At the moment, I only have two adult Nanny hens - and one is in Henopause and is enjoying her retirement. That said, and with fingers crossed, the five in my grow-out box look promising. Aside from a boy/girl pair of accidental crosses (Nankin rooster, New Hampshire Red hen,) It looks like I've finally got my flock replenishment. Fingers crossed, I think we've got one cockerel and FOUR pullets. And they're all really small, which is what I've been trying to breed. My BIS rooster is gorgeous, but a tad big for my liking - smack dab on the upper end of the recommended weight. This bunch looks really little - especially the cockerel and one of the pullets. She's Zelda - 'cause she had a perfect black Z on top of her head at hatch. In honor of the Covid heroes manning the honest-to-goodness M*A*S*H unit at our hospital, the rest are named:
Hot Lips, Kelly, and Able (after the nurses) and Radar ... 'cause he's a really little guy!
Sorry about the crushed egg not making it and Yay on the no respirator news! No new news is good news, right? So far, so good today. I guess this is going to be a long, slow wait. Yes that too!!! Although those single serve/keurig type things are already very popular lately anyway.More plastic! More waste! WOW!
Mary
Coffee drips are the best. All you use is a filter, ground coffee, and Boiling water. Then throw the coffee grinds and filter into your compost pile.Yes that too!!! Although those single serve/keurig type things are already very popular lately anyway.
It’s definitely a huge waste!!
