Ahh, yes. Lets look at those numbers than. So that .002% for H1N1...the lowest estimate for deaths hovered around 150,000 from a low estimate of 700 million infected in only 1.5 years. High estimates are 575,000 from 1.4 billion infections. So, those are rather huge numbers, especially as the population has grown ever larger since 2009-2010. Right now, Covid as of today sits at 240k ish cases and 9.9k deaths with over 80k recovered. With H1N1, it spread globally yet travel never shut down to this level, and folks did not stockpile as if we were in the End of Days. Doesn't that just seem...odd?

Fun fact: H1N1 originated in the USA. Do you think people in China called it the Ameriflu? Lol.

Objectively, one reason could be that confidence in government leadership was a lot stronger around the H1N1 time. Didn't we also have a pandemic response team then? I know it was just dismantled last year (whoopsie) but I don't know when it was started.

In California right?

Gosh haven’t seen you on here in a coons age! Where you been hiding? @seminolewind
Good to see you around again @seminolewind !
The suicide rate would go up for sure!
I hope not....
I've been having a hard time finding flour, did find some Bob's red mill (kinda expensive). Paper products, canned goods and sanitizing products are in very limited supply here. Toilet paper cannot be found anywhere at the moment. I'm finding this all surreal 😱
Flour was gone here also, surprised people still know what to do with it lol. The tp infatuation is just ridiculous....
You forgot the Zika virus 🦠 But I don’t know them all since I barely became an adult that cared about what was going on in the world two or three years ago.
Yup I did, I have five kids 21 to seven, youngest only boy, so that one really worries me, I don't want any grandkids affected by it.
My DD said if anyone visits her they have to bring their own TP
:lau
Had a truck driver say he sat on the pot, took the roll off the holder counted off five sheets and hung it from the holder thingy. He picks his farms at night, milk, his wife called him 2am, wanted to know what he did with the tp, super mad bad words, he said he told her "sorry honey but we have to ration" :lau
I planned on pulling that one on my DW, but.. She wouldn't just get mad, she'd get even and I don't want to know what that would entail..., she can be brutal...:gig

Think them and Washington have the most cases. I might be wrong because I can't even look at the news because my phone is being slow. Too many people on the Verizon network.
My county has 189 cases and 6 deaths. Two of those 6 deaths are in my city,

I don't know. I was just reading wikipedia to see and apparently H1N1 was also the Spanish flu (the 1918 pandemic). Then there were cases in Mexico, New Jersey, Wisconsin, etc, before it became a pandemic again in 2008. It's also called the swine flu but they aren't sure if we got it from pigs or pigs got it from us originally.
