Hey, you guys making masks:

Have any of you adjusted the length of the elastic webbing for the child-sized ones. I'm using the 7 1/2" x 5" measurement from the written guideline. It says 7" of elastic for a 9" x 6" adult mask but I don't see any adjustment for the smaller ones.

Maybe it's not necessary. Maybe the adjustment is in the size of the cotton but I thought I'd check.

What are you doing?

I have little people I can put them on once the elastic I ordered arrives. I think the smaller sized mask should make up for the difference but then again there are lots of different sized noggins too.

I've been wondering for the last month if "patient zero" is still alive? Do they actually KNOW they are patient zero? If both of the answers to those questions are "YES!", then I'd be SUPER curious what that person might be thinking / feeling!

Shadrach, you really live in Spain? How are things doing there?

I really do.
It's not good here and isn't showing any signs of getting better. We are following Italy and Iran.
Thankfully the people here are used to hardship and public reaction to the virus and the conditions it has brought about is as far as I've seen well informed and rational.
Covid-19 is seen as a global problem so we don't get much of that we will be alright jack and **** the rest. Hopefully the Spanish politicians haven't pissed off the Chinese because we will probably need their knowledge and help as the death toll rises. They have the industrial capacity to provide the medical supplies that will be needed as the virus spreads.
It seems from looking at other parts of the world that this won't be a quick fix problem and the economic damage will be crippling.

The actual original person infected or do you mean per area? Doubt the original person even knew what they had...

The first documented case in WA, the man was quarantined, treated and released after having made a recovery. His identity was never released.

They have not released any names or where they live around here either, and prob a good thing. One case in our county they released the info on FB but not who or where, it about blew up with people wanting to know what town and who, and if not who because of hipa laws at least where. I don't think I would want them to know from the way some were acting I'd be afraid they would firebomb their house or burn them at the stake.

I really don't trust anything China (Govt) has to say though, they have been doing a lot of lying and covering up, whistleblowers and people speaking out disappearing. Just takes a couple minutes of reading about their human rights violations which are appalling to know they are not our friends and not to be trusted.

Oh I get it but in other cases they at least have a specific area of origin (i.e. the Life Care Center in WA) so they can try and track progression outward. I believe the attorney's family in New Rochelle willingly IDed themselves so people who'd been in contact with them could get tested or at least take steps to try and minimize spreading it to others.

Re the surgical masks:

My daughter and I have gotten our production line going. We are finding that it is easier to sew a flat rectangle encasing the elastic bands on each side. Then turning them right side out and pressing. Next forming the pleats and pressing them in. Then finishing by running 2 layers of top stitching over all including the pleats.

When we sewed the pleats in with the elastic they were a puckery mess to try to press and topstitch.

Don't know if we misunderstood the instructions but we're finding this is what works.

Yeah. I guess they can ID themselves, there is one in Broome county, school teacher in a town very close to me (I'm in Delaware county) he ID'd himself.
I really don't think it should be a mandatory thing though. We should all be taking all the precautions regardless.

I'm guessing she's thinking something like... "I told you you'd regret eating me."

I wore masks as a nurse, I know what it's like. However, when they helped me not die of diseases my patients had, I was glad to do it.

I've had to wear masks pretty much half of my life. Just like my pump, it's become the norm.
