Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

Saw a vid this morn now I can't find it. Of a woman having her hair done through a mail slot.

Well this could be difficult depending on your hair and how you have it cut, but I've been cutting my own hair for about... 10 years now? Was going to cut it again tomorrow, it's down to my waist so not very manageable. I cut hubby's too (his is easy though, I just buzz it).

Now you'all dump right back into the politics again.... :hmm
I don't think there is a “magic wand” out there.
I'm tired of all the politics of this whole thing. I'd rather know if everyone is okay, if they have stuff at their stores, what's recently closed, and how they're passing the time...

It was a spoof vid, social distancing hair stylist lol.

It's impossible to completely depoliticize a problem as all encompassing as the corona virus. It effects everything from racism to homelessness to debt and disability access and a million other things. The existence of the virus has politicized even late-generation of asians in America just by virtue of them existing.

Like, is it political if you ask if I'm ok and I say "I am in the hospital and can't afford my hospital bills"? Or I answer "I'm OK but my brother in law was let get with no sick leave. My friend has a cough, we're hoping from her seasonal bronchitis, but no other symptoms so has to go into work because she won't be paid otherwise. She works in the food industry. I wish we had guaranteed paid sick leave for them"? (Both those latter things are true, btw.) It's a very political act to order businesses closed and when which is why my state governor is relying on publicly shaming non essential businesses until we reach a certain number of cases rather than ordering them all closed right now.

You can leave politician names out of it, but even then it's hard. Sen Mike Huckabee made a tweet about using corn cobs as toilet paper and is being criticized for not cracking down on scalpers in his state instead of making tweets about how people should use corn cobs instead.

If you're asking me if me and my loved ones are OK my answer is going to be political by the sheer nature of what politics encompasses. Otherwise I don't think you really want to hear an update.

Oh yes there is.
Magic wands are everywhere.

Not a good thing to discuss here.

He can't crack down on scalpers, he is no longer Governor or even in politics. Its actually a old joke, still for sale I believe. People like to put them, corn cob toilet paper holders in hunting cabins etc.
She works in the food industry.
So do I, dairy plant. I'm not sure if I should be happy I'm working, or ticked off that I'm the only one leaving the house, DW is laid off, kids school closed everyone staying home (definitely safe distancing) except me, we live in the boonies if we get sick/die it will be my fault...

Hey y'all. Not responding to anything currently being discussed here right now, just want to thank you all for being here and tell you all how much I appreciate you and how important you all are to me. Like others who have said so, you are my social life, and not just because of Covid-19. We live a pretty isolated life anyway. We have no near neighbors and don't socialize much except for church, which is now closed. I did freak out a bit when this first started, but I come here and hang out, and just knowing we are all in this together and everybody is coping in their own way is a comfort to me. My prayers are with you all, especially those who are most at risk. It's so nice to belong to a community I can still be a part of in spite of "social isolation!" Love one another, take care and stay well.

I am in the same situation here in Florida. Our daughter and her family live in Jacksonville, which is an hour and thirty minutes away. We rarely go out socially. I really appreciate the comrade I get from the community on BYC, I live in a neighborhood where lots are one acre. We wave at each other as we come and go. I have more in common with this community than the one I live in. I love hanging out on BYC. I would like to say thank you to all of you as you make day and give me some laughs. BBH take care.
