So do I, dairy plant. I'm not sure if I should be happy I'm working, or ticked off that I'm the only one leaving the house, DW is laid off, kids school closed everyone staying home (definitely safe distancing) except me, we live in the boonies if we get sick/die it will be my fault...
My son is in the same boat ... and the strain is telling on him. He's only 20 and is carrying the weight of this mess on his young shoulders. I'm worried for his health ... but I am SOOOOO proud of him!

I grow my hair long so I can donate it to be used for making a wig for a child with cancer.
My DD cut the hair of her boyfriend. :D And it even looks good.

Distance alarm
All people in the Netherlands with a smartphone received an alert this morning with a warning because too many people went outside into crowded places yesterday, like on the beach and in parks. But also the
hardware stores, DIY stores, and waste stations where overloaded.
  • If you go outside keep 1.5 meter distance.

  • Only use public transport if necessary

When I first started in nursing we did not have all the disposable items they have today. We reused needles, syringes, linens in the operating room, etc. Part of the problem now is we don't know how to drop back and punt. The younger generation doesn't know how to make what they need. You don't have to buy everything. Use your brain and common sense.
... but to their credit, they're learning, quickly!

Good morning Covid-19 thread. Whew! A lot of venting going on. Not sure what part of New England you are in @Rainwing, but the only "shelter-in-place" order is in Connecticut starting tomorrow. Here in Massachusetts we have been asked to not congregate in large crowds and essential businesses are still open. The positive virus cases have jumped from a little over 300 to 525 this morning. Sadly, there have been 2 deaths. However, the increase in positive cases can be partly attributed to the fact that they are doing more testing. Still, our Governor is not supportive of a total shelter-in-place order. Since I haven't done any in-store shopping in a month already, I will be spending the next few days trying to pick up as much as I can to re-stock. In the meantime, I've been working on prepping my garden for Spring planting. This and tending to my chickens keeps me busy. One thing I did about a month ago when this was getting some press, I purchased enough exercise videos so I could continue my exercise classes I would normally get at the Senior Center. My point: we may have to deal with this "new normal" for longer than originally anticipated. SO, look for ways to work in what was your normal daily routine before this hit and try to make a schedule or list to help you adjust. A normal routine helps keep us calm because we learn what to expect what is next. This is comforting. Add a little something you do just to make yourself feel better, like polishing your nails, or a facial. Try a new recipe, or perhaps re-decorate one of the rooms in your house / apartment to brighten the look. Take walks if you are able and just de-compress. This is a very stressful situation we are all in. Don't let it consume you. Take care everyone, and stay healthy.

Oh no oh no I just realized that my big plan to change over my flock to brahmas won’t happen! I was going to order chicks on Monday but just now rememberd that all the hatcheries I have access to FLY the chicks here and the airlines are shutting down till at least June.
I’m scrounging online for chicks right now but pickins are slim. Maybe I’ll buy a bator on Monday and make my own? Barred rock roo over Columbian hens. It’s a minor problem compared to some but still, I’ve only got a few old ladies left and I was counting on fresh blood this summer!
You may have better luck - and closer - if you post on your State thread. If you're looking for new blood, maybe you can add a a single hen or a new rooster and do some hatching. That should at least mix things up a bit.
