In modern society we have bidets. In most 3rd world countries they use water to clean after using the facilities. In fact they usually will have a pitcher by the toilet to use for that purpose. I've never heard of someone using corn husks as TP. Not to say that doesnt occur but it doesnt make much sense
Her family moved here in the late 70's from the Azores islands. You gotta use what you have sometimes.

Cant believe I actually looked this up:
"In rural agrarian communities, handfuls of straw were frequently used, but one of the most popular items to use for clean-up was dried corncobs. They were plentiful and quite efficient at cleaning. They could be drawn in one direction or turned on an axis. They were also softer on tender areas than you might think. Even after toilet paper became available, some people in Western states still preferred corncobs when using the outhouse"

I've heard that too - including the part about people trying toilet paper when it became available and returning to corncobs by preference. Not sure where - someone I knew in person's family member, I think.

My grandparents and parents used pages from the sears catalogue.

My if-it--comes-to-it plan was to cut up a few of my flour-sack type towels and wash them afterwards like cloth diapers. We haven't come close to that, though. We were still using the inventory backlog due to downsizing from a family of seven in the house to a family of two in the house.

It would be much more practical than trying to install a bidet in a bathroom with no possible space for it or space to expand the bathroom.

Not necessarily. My husband slept in the same bed with me while I was sick, hung out with me for four days straight over thanksgiving l and didn’t get sick. Oldest grandson didn’t either.
Hopefully they will get around to researching why some catch it and others do not.
I went through three rounds of covid outbrakes and I was elbow deep in it but I never caught a cold. DD and DW were sick last week and all I got was sniffles. (And no I'm not the most fastidious when it comes to PPEs.)
Not bragging, I could be deathly ill tomorrow. I'm just wondering why some get it several times and others don't seem to get it at all.

They now have clip on seat bidets for your toilet. They have them at CostCo

Vitamin D deficiency is my thought or poor thyroid.

Thyroid is important too. I had a lady in ICU years ago. Sick as could be and no one could tell why. After about a week I was talking to her family and found she had spilled her thyroid medicines and wasn't sure which she had taken. We got that fixed and she was fine.

Pretty sure congress changed the definition of vax ( to include this) in late 2019.
