The hits just keep coming. I think I'm giving up on social distancing and isolation and just going straight to hibernation.
I am a substitute teacher with the public school system. School is out pretty much for the rest of the year, so I have no job.
I've been subbing for a looooong time, so I have a good following and work every day, but since sub hours are considered fluid, we get no unemployment benefits.
My summer job is closed indefinitely and could well go under from this. And ... big surprise ... nobody's hiring!
My ex just informed me that he's been laid off indefinitely. Now there will be no alimony or child support.
With no income, I'll lose my house.
I'd say, "I want my Mommy," but at this rate, I may just get what I ask for ... moving back in, kids, dogs, cats and all ... but no chickens. They're not allowed, there. I'm trying really, REALLY hard to stay positive ... but it's getting really, REALLY hard to do!
At least we're all fairly healthy ... for now.

Nothing here on our store shelves all wiped out Tp, Paper Towels all cleaning products, and food in the stores very low...

not a problem anymore here. new shipments are coming in and purchase limits are being enforced by the grocery stores voluntarily so far. If not, I'm certain our gov will make it mandatory and enforcible legally.

Thanks for the recipe, but I would have to cut the sugar. I’m diabetic and have never liked the sweet yogurt even before. I only eat it for the probiotic properties.

Just leave it out. Just leave out the vanilla too if you want to cook with it.

All we folks who live "out there" live social distancing anyway, and usually have food supplies. TP, not so much.

Us northern country folk aren't usually caught with "our pants down" so to speak, we always have at least a small back stock of essentials because we never know when we are going to get snowed in, powered out, flooded etc. for days or weeks at a time. Young people call it "prepping" where I grew up it was just called common sense.

They shut down where we are now. So much for the egg turner I ordered. Thankfully I was able to get from another place but was $20 more.

Medical authorities are saying it may be with us from now on. The good news is people will begin acquiring immunity to it over time and time will probably produce a vaccine for it. More knowledge about how to treat it successfully as well.

The problem is how new this particular virus is and how little we know about it at this point. But eventually all that will change.

Think of when AIDS was new and was ravaging some communities. They were dying left and right and it was looking bleak! Now we have drugs -- think of how long Magic Johnson has survived with AIDS! -- and we have strategies everyone knows for avoiding it. That will happen with Covid-19 in time too. It's just our job to cooperate to "flatten the curve" of infection so medical personnel are able to keep pace with it.

We didn't shut the economy down for aids or flu.

Lock downs and "bending the curve" actually delays herd immunity, and deeps economic slaughter.

I will, as soon as the school's are officially "online" for the rest of the year. This limbo is horrible!
A good(ish!) night's sleep has made a world of difference. Now, I have a strong faith, but I've never been an evangelist ... mine is a quiet faith. Not too long ago, before all this really broke, I got a message to "take what evil the world throws in your path and turn it to good in His name." I used it then, and pretty much forgot about it. Last night, I realized that a decent program to help people maintain their mortgages may be just what I need. I was facing do-able but very tough times simply trying to assume the mortgage on my own. Federal help may make the difference. This old ship hasn't sunk yet, and if I can help it, it won't.
